The Dying and Rising Starchitects

Recently ive been sifting though various works that are by architects who have gained the title of starchitect during the course of their career. Though what ive come to realize is that many of them are beginning to get older and of course will one day end up leaving us. This then got me thinking, who will replace them? When names like Ghery and Foster are no more whose names will crown the skylines of the world? Any ideas of rising starchitects you've come across?

Jeanne Gang came to mind

All I know is that the term 'starchitect' makes me want to kill myself.

Well while i will say that starchitects have stolen a lot of opportunity from other lesser known architects to show their own greatness and strive for excellence and innovation in the field of architecture and design, i cant say that the title goes to the undeserving. I mean starchitects are trusted because they are great, they've worked hard and therefore have become recognized. I'm sure that in every city on earth, in homes across the world there are aspiring and licensed architects who are better architects then Nouvel and Pelli though are not given the chance to shine. But i dont think we can just cross out starchitects, we must acknowledge their innovation. Perhaps we should blame developers and those who select architects for having a closed mind by not allowing lesser known firms to design their buildings

lol I have no issue with so-called "starchitects" dude. My problem is with the word itself.

I dont think Jeanne Gang is a Starchitect at al. Starchitect doesn't just mean famous architects, it more famous architects that essentially design the same thing regardless of client or location. Foster, Gehry, Pelli, Hadid, Mies...to some extent Calatrava. People selling a brand and an image rather than design.

However its clear the term doesnt mean "good" architecture. It fits more along the lines of famous/popular.
