No plane, sorry. According to my flight log the highest I got on that flight was 997 feet. Those are oblique photos which always appear much higher than they actually are due to the horizontal distance - the farther away you are the higher you appear. I launched from near Disch Faulk. The highest I can get in an unrestricted flight zone before the drone software's geofencing stops me is 1,650 feet. I rarely go that high. No need to.

Got it. Fooled me. I just went over 1000 feet today with a top down view above the Independent. I need to try launching from there. Just dont want the UT police to get me. I heard the university is very restrictive on photos of the campus or UT tower.

Like many proposed renderings, reality winds up looking not quite so fanciful.

This was the original design for the stadium, which would put it at sometime in the early 1920s. It was planned according to the conventions of college stadium design at the time, but with Spanish (-ish) touches. The completed stadium never got the Spanish touches.

Yep, money was a consideration. But the actual original Stadium was built in just a matter of months.

The original TMS did not have the horseshoe. That was added in 1926.

The original had seats on all 4 sides of the field:

I remember doing a Power Point presentation on the history of TMS in speech class at UT many years ago.

My wife’s aunt was at that inaugural A&M game.

You can see the one on the north end right at the end of that long shadow. You can just make out the other one too. Keep in mind that the grass arc is the running track, and the football field doesn't extend all the way to the stands on either end.

I got it, thanks guys. Now where are the yard lines and boundary lines? And after zooming in, I estimate at least a thousand people made up that giant 'T'. Also, anyone have an idea where they got that elevated shot?

I was gonna say a moon tower. I didn't know the locations of them, though.

Found a map that has all the original tower locations. Tower #17 was located on the east side of what is now the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

I heard there was once a fiesta in the making. Do you know where that was?
