chicago through a philadelphian's lens

as promised, here is a set from my recent trip to chicago. my first time - beautiful weather, amazing architecture, and chipotles! it's monstrous - but they always do things big in chicago. enjoy.

day 1 - overcast

still tons of people out on michigan avenue

day 2 - ahh, much better. mid 70's, can you believe it?

tall, dark, and handsome

lake front

walking towards old town

rows - chicago style

inviting courtyard

but wasn't allowed in

day three - more beautiful weather

almost forgot the view outside my window

always wanted to do this

spectacular

was never the biggest fan of the sears, but from up here, it's hard not to show some love

skywalk - separated only by a screen

my hotel - the tremont

let's walk

the tribune entrance

heavy is the head

wrigley

time to keep walking

tall, white, and handsome

what the...

hehe, so i stayed and played

my favorite building in chicago - the carbon and carbide building. the green marble and gold crown are both beautiful and absolutely inspiring.

ampitheater

day four - last day, better make it good

and it was. lunch spot

and lunch!

with good company

and great views

this was a neat phenomenon to witness. it had been very warm that morning and towards noon, cold air suddenly crept in. the air condensed so quickly - it hid the hancock center in a matter of seconds!

all good things must come to an end

on my walk back, i saw this beautiful building - i'm guessing it used to be a mosque.

which is now a bloomingdale's home

hope you enjoyed. till next time.

I guess you were here Saturday, Sunday, and Monday? It was such a great turn around from Saturday to Sunday. The difference was like night & day. Glad you were fortunate enough to have scheduled your trip during our record highs. I was down along the lake on Sunday as well. The photos look great btw!

Nice job here. You did the town justice. And your feet must be sore from walking.

Holy shit, awesome set. Love the alley shots too. I was out on the shoreline when the temp dropped that day like 20 degrees in 15 minutes. And fog started rolling in. It was crazy, but we do have f*cked up weather here so I wasn't too surprised.

This is a great shot. Great Textures. Trump is like a mixture of Wrigley and IBM.

Actually, it was the Shriner's headquarters... As far as I know, it was never a church, synagogue, or mosque!

Glad you had a good time while you were here!

thanks for the comments guys! i had a great time - could not have asked for better weather.

trvlr70, feet were sore but mostly from running along the lake tho. next time i'll have to bring a tripod for some night shots.

you know i was trying to figure out whether the bloomingdale's building was of islamic or hebrew influence. i figured the star motifs where the same as pelli's inspiration for the petronas - so i guessed islamic. nice to know the actual story now.

again, thanks. now you guys have to come to philly!
