Organized chaos. Elon was cool letting the videos go on. I believe he just asked that the drone keeps a respectable distance. On the bonus video, I don't think that backhoe was the best choice for tree removal. Not very efficient.

Too bad Frank Erwin isn’t around to help out there.

Just a curious question.

Just a curious question...if this were to happen what type of office would they require? Expanded at the new factory, a shiney new high rise skyscraper or something nice out on loop 360?

Any news on HQ, urbancore? I recall you've been one of the ones closest to this news.

man, i wish i did. it was always a rumor from a not well known source. I "fished" for another corroborating source, as to not make too much of an ass of myself.

I actually saw a different source on airliners.net recently state the same thing, to go along with those who have mentioned it here. Hoping there are too many clues for it not to happen.

Didn't Musk mention on the last earning's call that in the near-to-medium term they weren't looking at moving the HQ, but that it's definitely something they're considering? To me the take away was, "dont expect it to happen in the next 12 months, but anything after that is on the table..."

It makes complete sense given all the Musk-related commercial activities taking place in Texas now that they would move it (returns on agglomeration and all that). But, there is a lot more corporate inerita to deal with in moving an HQ v/s constructing a new factory. Tesla (and SpaceX's) biggest asset right now is their human capital, and ability to attract that; something Elon's acutely aware of. I'm sure they're looking at that closely before making any call.

Moving a HQ from a heavily taxed state to one in which is quite light on corporate taxations isn't very simple. In general, moving a HQ is not an easy task or a quick process.

California is going to fight too-and-nail on any move.

In any case - even if Tesla has decided to move its HQ to Texas, the process itself is going to take a while. So, Musk cannot really say anything at this point in time. He's obviously kept the door wide open for a move.

The site plan (well, 18 pages of it anyway) was added to the permit. There isn't much info about the buildings. There were some attachments added to another permit a couple weeks ago with more info about the buildings, but they were removed shortly thereafter, and I didn't have them downloaded yet

Article from CleanTechnica with a different spin. Video games? I guess they have plenty of room at a 7,928,001 square foot facility.

Quote:
AutobodyNews reported that Tesla wants new video games to be made at Giga Texas. The article stated that Tesla is planning to hire a series of video game and infotainment engineers who will be employed at the new Giga Texas production facility. Tesla posted a few job openings that entailed software engineering, software infotainment development, and video game development on its career website back in August. The job posts hinted at a new series of in-car video games and entertainment platforms that would entertain drivers as they are parked or at a Supercharger.
Tesla Giga Texas will be colossal, plans start trickling out

Seems like the factory will appear like one large building even with the loading docks and internal rode according to Musk. It should look more like this:

Tesla is expanding their site significantly.

Quote:
Continuing at full speed with development of its electric vehicle assembly plant in southeastern Travis County, Tesla recently purchased 381 acres adjacent to its existing 2,100-acre site at Harold Green Road and Texas 130, deed records show.

Tesla also is believed to be pursuing additional land purchases in Southeast Austin along the Texas 130 corridor, according to local real estate developers knowledgeable about the area.
Quote:
With Tesla’s acquisition of the 381 additional acres, “we can expect more announcements from Tesla, both from real estate and plant expansion,” said Jill Rowe, a commercial real estate broker in Central Texas who is not involved in the project.
