Another fire alarm at TNS today. Yippee.

In other news, drill rig is moving, spinning at Sutton Place. Concrete truck on site. Excavator digging around. So they're moving again.

I understand the need to keep the players from being hassled by fans, but really....it almost certainly takes longer to take the bus than to walk the one block.

Again I get the reasons why...

Do you know when they started staying there vs. the Fairmont? I thought the Fairmont was the only hotel in Winnipeg that came close to meeting NHL "standards".

FWIW I've been to rooms in both (not recently, mind you) and I didn't find there to be much of a difference at all between the two. The Fairmont has a better restaurant, but beyond that they really aren't that far apart from each other... six of one, half dozen of the other.

Standard rooms in both hotels... can you guess which is which?

the first one is the Delta because it has a balcony. Balconies are what make the Delta unique in Wpg...what other major hotels have balconies?

^ You are correct, of course. But the point is that the calibre of the room itself (size, décor, finishes, etc.) are generally very similar. No one could look at the Delta room and say that it is obviously unbefitting of a NHL player.

Winnipeg's Fairmont is not up to the standards of the other hotels in the Fairmont chain.

^I recently stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The restaurants and conference facilities were top notch, but the hotel rooms themselves were just nice, nothing spectacular, and rather small in my opinion. These pictures look just as nice, and the Delta room looks a bit more spacious.

The Fairmont rooms are quite small for a hotel of that caliber. Delta's are a bit bigger, but still small for what would be today's standards at that level as well. That's because they're both in really old buildings. Those type of hotels in most cities would either be in much newer buildings or older historic ones.

Winnipeg, MB - Southbound Carlton Street from Graham Avenue to St. Mary Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic two Sundays in December for tower crane work.
◾Sunday, December 16 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
◾Sunday, December 23 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time and use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Pedestrian access on Carlton Street will be maintained on the west sidewalk, and Winnipeg Transit buses will not be impacted.

Woop woop woop woop woop.

Scuttlebutt from someone who works at Ceridian, relocating to true north square, third floor of scotia building. They are currently occupying 4 floors in the Ceridian building. Not sure the floor sizes there. They had wanted to consolidate into a single level. Looks like floor 3 of True North is 31,450 sq ft which looks like it's roughly the same as the 4 floors of 125 Garry.

Looks like theres 3 piling rigs on site now. One attached to a blue crane, a larger rig and then a bit of a smaller rig. Plus lots of action with trucks and piles of dirt. Things look to be gaining steam. Crane work scheduled for this weekend.

So looks about right for things to really ramp up in the new year.
