Photoshop Fun

Hey guys, I'm taking a computers course this semester. Our first assignment was in photoshop and we had to integrate four images together to make something planning related. i warn you this is my first time using photoshop so I know it's not the best, but I thought I'd share my final pic just for fun.

Oh fun!

Here's something I did a few weeks ago out of boredom:

(Emerites Office Tower,1 bloor East, sears tower, burj al arab, burj dubai , shanghai wfc and just for kicks, I moved the United Gulf project to the cogswell interchange).

And something highlighting the most prominent highrises that we do actually have:

That really illustrates how puny our "big" buildings truly are.

Nice, I see I still have a long way to go! It's funny, cause the sears tower almost works in our skyline?!

I think it's really unfortunate how the height obsession has put such a damper on the idea of having a new signature highrise building in the downtown. I doubt the city would see the equivalent of a Sears Tower but a really modern looking 40 storey building would look great.

As it is the skyline is basically required to develop a kind of "tabletop" profile which is not very attractive.

Haha yours looks pretty good to. I like how the Hong Kong bank building (i forget the actual name) fit behind purdy's.

Of course nothing in my picture is even remotely close to scale. In reality the closest building in height to halifax's highrises is 1 bloor east, and even that will still be nearly 3 times higher than fenwick when built.

I like the skytrain in Helladog's photo too, lol.

Love that last photo too. I guess these pics really do prove that "skyscraper" is a relative term.

Lol, well that's why it's called "photoshop fun" and not "photoshop: be realistic."

Ok, here's a photoshop challenge for members of SSP: Local Halifax or anybody with good editing skills.

Clad this image of Fenwick with something, or edit it in some realistic manner to be more attractive.

I found that image a little hard to work with due to the angle. But here's a quick interpretation of what Fenwick would look like if it had cladding similar to what is on the New York Times Building.

That is hardly my best work, but it gives you some idea of the possibilities even if they kept the dreary gray colour.

If anybody wants to give me ideas on fenwick cladding based on other buildings i'll give them a go.

I'd like to see it in blue glass. I wonder how it will be renovated once it is sold... it could be prime condo/office.

I don't think Fenwick is that bad. It just needs to be cleaned and have the grounds reworked. That said... more and better quality glass would be nice.

So I went back into this old thread. Funny how the 2 on the left look a bit like what Skye could look like. Skye would be further south though.

Skye is shorter, and much more sleek than these photoshopped buildings.

Though I actually like the jarring difference in how dwarfed the Purdy's Wharf towers are, Skye is much more complimentary. The two skinny towers won't imasculate the fortitude of Halifax's downtown like these Godzilla developments in this photoshop rendering.
