^ The third pic up is simply awesome. What a tower. Here’s how I justify the messy south facade: typically, mechanical floors wrap around an entire building. This is not the case with Vista. We have three facades that are continuous glass from top to bottom (aside from the blowthru). Not too many, if any 1,200 ft towers can claim that statistic. So we sacrifice the south side to get a little more pure, uninterrupted beauty on the other three.

Haha thats crazy. I get why you guys say that about the south side of it, maybe im just not picky enough but i love the building. It was so great seeing it in person. I always thought i'd like trump tower more than vista but seeing them both in person recently vista wins for me. The colors are so bright and vivid on vista. Beautiful colors. It's tall with an awesome shape haha I can't complain.

Also look at this impact on the skyline. Just crazy. Really fills in the gaps. Helps Chicago look even crazier.

I took these pics July 29th with my cellphone

Hockey is back, and I just noticed that NBC Sports Chicago is already featuring Vista in one of their city skyline backdrops for Blackhawks broadcasts.

I know that 99.9% of people neither notice nor care about such stuff, but us nerds are ALWAYS paying attention.

I think it's cool that Vista is already entering the city's collection of skyline icons.

But I'm a nerd.

For hockey.

AND skyscrapers.

I noticed that too

Im always looking at their backdrops to see if they updated them.

In one of their live backdrops we'll be able to see 300 N Michigan rise

Some nice aerials as of late July. Due to size, see spoiler.

On a side note, I'm glad the blue light is still there on the blow through floor.

Damn, that first shot is awesome. Vista is the *only* building from that lake view that reflects the gorgeous prairie sunset and helps carry it to the horizon.

The base will be the lobby/lounge/restaurant of the Vista hotel (the boxy portion with frustrum mullions that looks north over the river)..is that the part you're referring to?

Looking for the restaurant I found this: https://www.enr.com/articles/48869-a-double-decker-road-tower-runs-through-vista-tower-chicagos-third-tallest-building awesome read

and this:

Quote:
Wanda Hotel Development has agreed to sell its ownership stake in Vista Tower for $270 million, the Chicago Tribune reported. Locally based Magellan Development Group has agreed to buy the 90% ownership stake from the unit of Dalian Wanda Group.

Magellan owns the other 10% stake in the 1,191-foot-tall condominium and hotel project, which has been under construction for almost four years at 363 E. Wacker Dr. It’s part of Magellan’s Lakeshore East mixed-use development.

The sale agreement was reached July 24, according to a Hong Kong stock exchange securities filing. The deal was first reported by Bloomberg.

Construction of the 101-story skyscraper along the Chicago River is expected to cost $1 billion, including construction debt.

It’s backed by a Chicago-record $700 million construction loan, which the developers secured in 2017, almost a year after the project broke ground without financing in place. Construction topped out in April.

Magellan owns the whole thing now. I don't know how construction financing works, anybody know it's likely that Wanda took a loss on this?

Cool

...I live about four blocks north of Vista and it seems that work on the north facade has ground to a halt. I keep waiting for the final corner to be glassed in and the skip removed.......nothing seems to have changed on the north facade in almost a month.

It’s very odd. I saw them dissemble the base 2 was ago, so it’s no longer in use. Limited activity that day.
