Winnipeg has been experiencing an unseasonably warm winter, everyone seems to be out enjoying it.


The Ai Weiwei sculpture 'Forever Bicycles', is displayed at The Forks


The grounds of the Manitoba Legislature


Lights are in celebration of Manitoba 150 anniversary of joining confederation


Winter enthusiasts enjoy the frozen river trails


The skating trail continues on land through The Forks site across the historic port bridge


The skating trails lead to a large ice rink in front of the CN Stage and Canadian Museum for Human Rights


The Canadian Museum for Human Rights illuminated it's glass cloud through the month of January with a northern lights display


Red River Mutual Skating (walk, jog, bike, snowshoe, sled) Trail


The Waddell Fountain has stood in Winnipeg's Central Park since 1914


Mahatma Gandhi is memorialized in front of the CMHR


The St. Andrews Lock and Dam is in Lockport, Manitoba located just north of Winnipeg


The Red River in Lockport is a poplar location for ice fishing


The Lock and Dam were completed in 1910, it was constructed to submerge the the St. Andrews Rapids which made navigating the Red River to Lake Winnipeg a treacherous affair

A mild winter and pandemic restrictions had Winnipegger's out enjoying recreational activities

Looks good! Cold, but active. Just curious, what is Winnipeg's reputation in Canada? I feel like it flies way under the radar compared to Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa...hell, I feel like I even hear more about Halifax.

Love this set! This is a great portrait of an underrated city. The winter photos demonstrate how people can actually enjoy snow & cold weather!

ARTLab, designed by Patkau Architects consists of large spaces for the University Of Manitoba School Of Art


IG Field, home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football club of the CFL


The stadium is floodlit orange to honour the children who survived the Indian Residential Schools of Canada's past

In May of 2021 a mass grave of 215 children was uncovered at a former site of an Indian residential school in Kamloops BC.
A memorial ceremony was set up on the ground of the Manitoba Legislature in honour of the children found

The Peguis Pavilion at Kildonan Park opened in 1965, it takes its name from the nearby Chief Peguis Monument


The Witch’s Hut at Kildonan Park was a centennial project that opened in 1970. It brings to life the fairy tale story of Hansel & Gretel


The pond at Kildonan Park freezes over in the winter and is used as a recreational skating rink. The recently installed functional art pieces entitled Bokeh illuminate the rink in the darker winter evenings
