Taken today

14. M City M2 - / Mississauga ON/ 61 Floors / / 201 meters
17. M City – M1 - / Mississauga ON / 197.8 / 60 floors

From a distance or even about 300 metres away these towers just look off....ugly and a bit clumsy. It looks marginally better once you look up, for the sculptural quality is the only interesting thing about this. Other than that, this is one strange complex going up.

I appreciate the chance they took with these insofar as going for a different unconventional silhouette.. and the more finished they become, the more I like them. I really like the slim profile of the towers but the other angle is just a bit too bulky for my liking.

Increasingly, I find the floorplates too large...but that's a minor critique compared to their intentions with the podium. Not only that, but the way the whole thing interacts with the street, which in itself should be re-designed at some point in conjunction with this whole complex.

Generally I can find the towers passable...to a degree.

The construction hoists are the most interesting part. Cheap thrills with cheap finishes on crappy bases. Yep, the scale of everything here is oversized.

Toronto 79 built, 37 under construction
Mississauga 4 built, 7 under construction
Vaughan 3 built, 6 under construction
Total: 136

The mock-up shows curved glass and the pre-cast panels exposed on the interior as well:

I haven't seen the mock up. looks great

it's a hybrid "thin wall" panel with a thin facade of concrete supported by a steel stud structure. Usually the fully installed wall gets spray foamed and finished with drywall

Do cranes have to be yellow in Montreal?

Can't get Maple Leaf Square out of my head everytime I see Victoria sur le Parc

The butterfly might be my favorite highrise building in Vancouver when complete. It will be the first tower that truly deviates away from all the glass we are used to seeing.

Very good for Mississauga. - Interesting design, would also work well in North York City Centre, with Emerald Towers and Hullmark Centre.

Great to see MTL boom again! I just wish they would drop the height limit. Mont Royal only looks prominent compared to the skyline from a plane as it is. It's barely visible behind the current skyline from most ground level vantage points.
