typically they dont want to allow the road closures or something of the sort.

Looks like digging started on Page 30 of this thread, in February 2015. So 4.5 years of actual construction plus 2 something years of public pre-development. Quite a long time!

Now that the crane is gone, it gives us a better idea as to how it fits into the skyline.

damn, another 7 months to go. A 5 year construction project in the modern era is LONG. Some high rises go up in in half that time. The height is obviously a factor here, but this has been a very long undertaking. I'm pretty sure neither Comcast tower took 5 years.

Hey now! The Empire State Building was only built in 13 months (1930-31, one year, 45 days to be exact)... leave the W Hotel alone. (sarcasm).
