Talladega, AL

Talladega is a city of 17,000 located in east-central Alabama, about 50 miles east of Birmingham, but off the interstate a bit. It is the seat of Talladega County.

The downtown is arranged in a square surrounding the courthouse in typical middle-American fashion, but I somehow managed not to get a shot of the courthouse.

thanks, looks fascinating. But are there really enough people there to support a Broadway-style musical (The Color Purple) if only for a two-night run?? (not that they're charging New York prices!)

Proving once again that the Rust Belt has not cornered the market on depressed small towns.

Nice pics. But another small town where life is sucked out. Sad, really sad.

Fairly gritty for a place with a well known racetrack that produced a funny movie!! You would think that it might draw more revenue!! Good pics nonetheless!!
