88 Dartmouth Road, formerly proposed to have two 4-storey apartment buildings, is now a cul-de-sac of bungalows called Mellow Ridge Estates. I would of preferred some density but the bungalows do help fill the high demand of stay-in-neighbourhood retirement housing which is acceptable in my books.

The beginnings of the cul-de-sac are now visible in driving by. Going from wooded area to obtaining grade has taken most of the summer and early fall.

The Cushing Hill project seems to have been injected with new life recently. In 2019 Regional Council approved the new zoning for the Cushing Hill properties. Last week a development permit was issued for two of the properties within the residential portion. The permits are for 22 and 13 residential units. The residential zoning is restrictive because the properties are accessed off of Oakmount Drive which is a quiet, low-density, residential street. The unit count and zoning requirements imply this will be a townhouse style development.

Drove down Bedford Highway today and there is a large billboard on the old (Irving/Canadian tire?) Gas station next to Sun Tower advertising what looks to be a 4 story office with ground floor retail.

That seems to be a land-for-lease solicitation only. The illustrations are just samples of what could be built; nothing final or approved.

Bedford water tank

Hi I drove past the New Bedford water tank you can see passing on the highway and it looked completed a few days/weeks ago and now today I drove past it again and it now looks like they are taking it down.

I could be mistaken but that’s what it looked like to me.

Any idea on this one?

Thanks.

It is all open on the very bottom, you can see right through it..... I hope they plant trees around it.... it doesn't fit in well with all the new development in the area.

It seems as though there's still a bit more height to go before this one's complete. They just raised it this week, I'd say it probably needs to be raised once more before it matches the height displayed in the rendering.

It looks significantly shorter than depicted in their mockups. Not sure why they would make the public think it would be bigger than it actually is unless it's not done?

Drove by it yesterday. It’s not bad at all, and will be even better once it’s painted.

Actually I don't mind a little bit of industrial looking stuff around residential. It provides a bit of visual balance, IMHO. Mind you, I'm probably the only one who thinks about stuff like this...

Haha! Me too as long as they don't paint in some obscure color that destroys the whole area visually.

I've noticed some foundation work happening on this site along the Bedford Highway.

Any word as to what is being built there?
