There is only one unit that has provisions for a drive thru window in this building... wonder if Starbucks is giving up their drive thru or A&W won't have one

Also Calendar Club will be setting up a calendar only kiosk in the hallway in front of Mark’s. And Hickory Farms will be opening at the mall on November 8th.

Construction status of the new strip mall plaza being constructed across from Lancaster Mall on the west side (in front of Lawtons Drugs). The bigger unit at the end will be a relocation of Starbucks (from down the street) and there appears to be 2 smaller units next to it.

Looks like a new tenant is coming soon to East Point Shopping Center. This new permit application was sent to the city for "Tenant fit-up - Minor Renovations and Signage" at 15 Fashion Drive (the building where Gap Factory Store is located). The only spot that is vacant right now is the former Ana Banana unit. So this has to be where this new tenant is going. Stay Tuned!

Jon Smith Subs (based out of Florida) has a new franchise opportunity available. The only other Atlantic Canada opportunity is Halifax, NS.

Heard the Somerset Dollarama is closing soon. No idea who might take over the building. On side note Mardens store in Calais is closing too. Everyone I know who goes to Calais always stops there so that's why I put it on here.

They just opened that one in December 2019. (And it was a new build).
I don't know why they would be closing it almost a year later? Unless maybe you meant the Landsdowne Plaza one nearby (beside Shoppers Drug Mart)?

I saw on retail talk and share NB a member had received a notice that Elridge’s Harley Davidson on Fairville Boulevard will be closing at the end of the year.

The 2nd Mr.Lube location in the city is Now Open! on the west side (940 Fairville Blvd. Same plaza as Starbucks Coffee and Mary Browns Chicken).

Here is a pic of it from Google Maps:

Some unfortunate news for McAllister Place. Some more (new) closures happening apparently. (This is in addition to Le Chateau and Naturalizer).

Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1690...8050933094266/
  • KFC has closed for good.
  • Call It Spring (shoe store) will be closing.
  • And there is rumors/chatter that Tim Hortons might be closing too.
Hopefully things will turn around soon. I really hope these spaces can get filled again fairly quick. It's sad to see business close up shop.

The new Starbucks Coffee is now open on the west side, (in the new retail plaza across from Lancaster Mall). Their previous location down the street, next to Mary Brown’s Chicken is now closed (as this new one is a relocation of that one).

There's a phrase that's used on a U.S. sports talk show called 'Undisputed', which stars NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe and sports journalist/commentator Skip Bayless. It's spoken by Skip, and goes like this, when he talks about a certain 6-time Super Bowl Champion and former New England Patroit who wore No. 12.

It's 'There's one man I NEVER bet against when the money is on the table. And that is Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr.!'

Well, DyAm00394, I'd like to change that up a bit when it comes to that mall. I say 'There's one mall in Saint John, N.B. that I NEVER bet against when it comes to it's ability to change and survive in any circumstance. It is McAllister Place!'.

There is a reason why McAllister Place has been the leader of the larger McAllister Regional Retail Centre since 1989...it's willingness to evolve. And the mall will survive the loss of those retailers, and might even somehow thrive in spite of them. It's why they've been open for 42 1/6 years now.

If this were Parkway Mall we'd be talking about, Parkway would be flattened out to a bare wasteland, because the ones who've owned that place over the years haven't cared. MP's owners(Triton, then Cadillac Fairview, and now Primaris) have to the point of desperation. That mall is a grinder, it's seasoned, and is still shining to this day.

Never bet against MP.

And speaking of Parkway, I think that SmartCentres, who owns the Walmart Plaza right behind Parkway, should buy that mall, join the 2 properties together, and expand the Walmart Plaza, with the Parkway property becoming what the Walmart Plaza is.

So...yeah.

=P

It appears a new business is coming soon to McAllister Place (in the former Things Engraved location). U Designz is listed on the recently updated mall floor plan (with an opening date of this month, February 2021).

It's very possible that it could be this Newfoundland based business: https://udesignfun.com/

Which if it is, then this will be their first location in NB (as well as the first location outside of Newfoundland).

Some Lancaster Mall updates from Retail Talk & Share NB.
Source of pics: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1690...0274740871885/

Thriftys by Bluenotes appears to be closing. "Store Closing" sale signs are posted in all their windows (inside mall and outside entrance).

Work is happening at the former Great Canadian Dollar Store unit (as well as the unit next to it). According to chatter (and confirmed by an employee of the public library branch in Market Square), the public library (west branch) is moving to this area. Apparently the Walmart mall entrance/corridor will be cut off from the mall and the public library is taking over the entire area in front of Walmart's mall entrance. The lounge for Saint John Transit will stay and become part of the library and the library will have it's own exterior entrance as well.

Apparently the library's new location is part of major redevelopment of Lancaster Mall. The mall will become an open-air plaza, (no longer be an indoor mall).
