Spruce Meadows construction progress thanks to lovevolcano on r/CavalryFC

Not sure how to resize these, if I link with img tags they are huge.

There is also a virtual venue up, not sure if this was shared. Got some tickets for the May 18 game vs Edmonton FC, really looking forward to going.

I am loving the look of these venues. Great stuff.

They say the expanded capacity will be 6,000 (Ph 1) - which does include the standing room 'supporters' area. They are working 7 days a week right now, long days and claim it will be ready and 'fan friendly'...for the game on the 28th.

The team says they expect 5,000+ for the first game based on ticket sales.

A couple more pics from yesterday - they started installing the seats on the existing aluminium bleachers.

Calgary's stadium looks like it will be the worst in the league. The main grandstand being built is temp seating akin to what we see at the Grey Cup. Where will the washrooms and concessions be on that side?

Then you have seating on the other side that looks like it is a mile from the field of play. Who the hell will want to pay several thousand dollars for a club seat with such a distant view of the field.

Calgary will have the highest average ticket price in the league which will certainly not help with selling seats.

Love that cedar grandstand. Imagine a cute, little stadium like that, ten-thousand seats. Beautiful.

The stadium is surrounded by facilities and concessions, spruce meadows is a large facility. The main equestrian stadium can hold up to 60k which is right beside it. In between is a 'street' so to speak with concessions etc.

It is an odd layout for sure, guess we will see. I dont understand the ticket pricing.

That is good to hear regarding the concessions and facilities. The ticket pricing is too high in general but I have stated that before. We will see what happens.

Just to prevent anyone else from Googling this, it actually seats 6K.

The stadium for Cavalry is going to be 6k. (Meadows on the green)

The main area for equestrian holds alot more. I saw the 60k somewhere my mistake. What I was trying to say was there are more than enough concessions etc for Cavalry games.

87k in attendance for one day according to this.

https://calgaryherald.com/sports/spr...ational-season

This is the main equestrian field. Alot more than 6k can fit in here.

Supposed to be 25K in attendance for the opener this Saturday in Hamilton.

Halifax is close to sold out for their opener (4K+ season ticket holders for a 6.5K stadium).

Pacific are talking sellout for their opener.

Valour have opened up additional sections of stadium for their opener.

Wow, 25k in Hamilton!

Pacific may be talking a sell-out , but I'm starting to wonder if all the sections will be ready. I'll drive by later today to see how much they have done since the 21st (the last photos I posted with the purple seats going in).

The team does claim they have 5000 tickets sold now.

One cool thing Westhills stadium has is premium suites (I hope the glass slides open). I believe most are bought now (local community is good for that):

The 25K in Hamilton is due to 75% of the tickets being distributed to the community for free. I'll be there. Can't wait.

IIRC the entire stadium won't be completed until the fall.

IMHO.
The league is a long shot no matter how much planning has gone into it. Every new league is a long shot. Losses are obviously going to be expected but, should they exceed expectation year over year, the league won't be making it to 10 years.

I know of a few large groups coming down from Up Island for the inaugural PFC game ... in fact there are quite a few. These are likely one time things...lots of soccer associations are sending people. I'm pretty sure there were some comps and discounted tickets too. We'll see if the crowds will last.

Nice. I'm not sure if I read it on this forum or another, but apparently Hamilton was going to give out a lot of free tickets for the first game to ensure a full building. I like that move as it generates plenty of positive buzz for the team for future games.

Love the move to give out free tickets for the opener. Create some buzz for the rest of the season.

Forge are giving out a lot of freebies for the opening match, yeah. It was Bob Young's idea as the team tells it.

Either way, a full stadium provides for good optics and gets the league on the right foot promotionally-speaking. I think Forge are expecting 6K-8K crowds for other matches. Canada Day and end of fall season will be other key dates to fill seats.

The exterior plaza areas of PFC's Westhills Stadium will be finished by July - official grand opening ceremony in mid August.

Looks like they are going with food & beer trucks for concession - nice!
