Some random photos...

Yesterday... (9.8.2022)

For the past 10 days or so, the Los Angeles area has been hit with a massive heat wave. Temps in the 90s and 100s, with temps reaching the upper 80s and 90s even at the beaches. Some muggy days, too. It made me lazy to walk around and take pictures... But today, Friday, 9.9.2022, we're experiencing Tropical Storm Kay, which is giving us rain and some more mugginess, but it's helping us cool down. And today, my partner and I decided to eat out for dinner. So, tag along with us!

We took the train. A rainy South Pas Station.

We went to a French restaurant in Chinatown.

French cider.

Cheese and charcuterie board.

Giant beans and citrus.

Sardines in a tin.

Duck in a jar.

The restaurant is next to the elevated Metro Rail tracks---and just near the Chinatown Station.

Olives and nuts, and escargots.

Here's the restaurant.

Done with dinner. Time to go home. The rain had let up a bit.

Love the rain, and although I hate humidity it was kind of okay because I knew a change was coming and we get some relief from this awful heat. We always get our bad heatwaves after the rest of the country just as summer is ending. Chinatown is building up and looking good, I also love the sky photo and the ones of the train’s are totally awesome.

Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, I really looked forward to the rain, and we did indeed get relief from the heat.

Today even though it was very warm it was much more bearable and not even uncomfortable to me. Seems like we're back to more normal late summer temps. Today was very different from Friday.

I took a few pictures today... just a few.

Saw this very nice Triumph TR6.

Went to a chocolate place for a pick me up.

Alright, that's some French food! I never saw "giant beans and citrus" over here, though.
It might be some exotic touch that they added to their menus, or I simply don't know about it.

Beware of charcuterie or stuff bathed in melted butter like escargots.
Obviously, that's no healthy food at all. It causes people who do too much of it to die from strokes, cancer and bad diseases when they grow older.
You may do it from time to time if you like it, but certainly not on a daily basis.

You know, it's always the same... "À consommer avec modération", as they say here.
That means "do not get addicted to that shit".

It's the first time we've had them at a French restaurant too. I think they're just butter beans, but my partner and I love butter beans, and they shave the citrus zest on them, and if I remember correctly it had a bit of olive oil too. After I read your comment, I also thought it was something they just decided to add to the menu, but it made me want to do a Google search. And interestingly, I found that they serve them at a little wine bar in Paris called La Buvette (not to be confused with the restaurant called Buvette, apparently); my guess is the restaurant we went to got the idea from La Buvette. Here is an article, and you can see the picture of the giant beans and citrus: https://www.afar.com/places/la-buvette-paris

And here's the location on Google Maps:
67 Rue Saint-Maur, 75011 Paris, France https://www.google.com/maps/place/La...42!4d2.3792998

Being that you're in Paris, maybe you can check it out some time, and let me know what you think of it, whether you like it, or absolutely hate it.

Thanks for your advice. I usually try to eat healthy. I don't eat this kind of stuff often, but I do like to have it once in a while.

^ I like any kind of beans, so I'd most likely enjoy this thing.
I don't like sardines so much on the other hand, although it's ok when dressing is good enough.
It seems that their big beans are served with sardines...

I might try it anyway. That could be entertaining. Thanks for the suggestion.

My understanding of La Buvette is, you can order any small plates that you want, any combo of them, or just even one plate, so I don't think you have to order sardines if you don't care for them.

If you do go and have the big beans, please let me know if you liked them, and what you thought of La Buvette.

This place is BOMB.

The two guys closest to the camera had German accents. The bartender asked them "how did you guys find out about this place?" They said "we saw it on Google Maps. It said it serves cider and beer. We thought 'how could you go wrong with that?'"
