So it looks like we're around 600 ft maybe?
Seems like a good guess-timate given the 40 foot high retail floor and the extra height of all the hotel/event floors that were built first.

Guess I need new glasses ‘cause this is only about 60% complete… but kinda looks super-tall already in the photo lol.

My previous guestimate looks decent from this angle. Again the Manulife Centre is 544 ft for comparison to the left. This is maybe around 600 ft (even a little less), hard to tell from perspective. That actually puts it < 60% though. 600/1077 = 56%.

600 ft is not short - but the skinniness definitely makes it look taller.

Soon it will soar over 1 Bloor at 844 ft. LFG Toronto!!

Fuckin' Gary Hershorn! That dude is a national treasure here in the US, and dropping his skills on our neighbors to the north. The best part about this photo is that it captures not one, but two Foster-designed towers under construction mere blocks from each other.

According to this article, the developer was just forced out and replaced.

One particularly unpromising quote is as follows:
“We just have a difference of opinion on how to build this building,” he continued. “I like to build stuff that's the top quality and the best there is … and they want take it in a different direction.”

Certainly doesn't sound very good. But I also wouldn't expect someone who was salty about being forced from a major project they were working on for a decade to have many positive things to say about the people responsible. I have to say, the claim that he was removed because he "likes building top quality stuff" while implying the new people don't seems dubious. Given how long he's taken, he either doesn't like it as much as he claims or he just isn't very good at it. The One is 6.5 years in and only around 2/3 up. By comparison, Central Park Tower in Manhattan went from breaking ground to topped out in 5 years. Yet it's in an equally constrained site, is 50% taller, and is equally or more premium. The delays with The One were so bad even 2 years ago the Apple, who signed as a major tenant, launched a lawsuit. Seems to me that these are much more likely reasons for him being forced out.

Floorplates look tiny from distance… will end up looking a bit like a pencil tower at full height.
