Based on the location of the mount I think it'll be a normal crane.

I was wondering this myself. The a-frame tower crane that was used for Hampton was a semi-mobile one that was actually on Polk street and it only had about 10 feet of clearance of Freeport. Since the crane will be fastened to a slab, it will be tight for an a-frame crane. I don't recall a luffing crane ever being used in Phoenix. Is Phoenix finally becoming dense enough to need a luffing style crane??

I don't recall one being used either. That's why I'm curious to see what happens with Akara/Kennect.

Well, since the construction cam has been down all morning, I grabbed a quick update pic on this rainy afternoon while standing at the LRT station. They are going remarkably fast now with some of the rebar already around 3 levels tall. I suspect we will see a tower crane go up within the next week or so.

Seems like they have a hard time keeping their cams online. Cambria will be done before they get that cam back up.

I was looking over the fence from the sidewalk today and someone came over and locked the fence, he jokingly told me it wasn't because I was standing there and I commented I wouldn't have the guts to walk in anyway. He told me it's about to get really crazy with more trucks and workers as they go vertical and the crane is coming on the 29th.

I found it strange how chatty the person I assumed is the foreman was being.

Now this is the insider information I'm looking for. Bless those chatty foremen.

I drove past downtown on way to a concert in Glendale last night and the impact on the skyline in both directions of 10 by Link is pretty impressive. Downtown is really starting to look dense...esp at night. Just wish we could pierce the veil with another 40+ tower someday soon. Chase deserves a well-deserved retirement from tallest designation

I think Phoenix blew it's chance with Central Station for a new tallest. I don't think we will see many more towers getting proposed this cycle. Maybe 7-10 years or so. Outside of Link, I don't think we will see anything 350' or over. But we will continue to densify.

Isn’t the apartments going up at AZ Center suppose to be the same if not taller than The Link? And Barrister as well if it gets built.

Yes, Central Station is supposed to be ~30 floors as well.

AZ Center will be 315', Central Station @300' and nothing on Barrister height has been confirmed.

Looks like they are getting pretty close to being ready to pour the ground floor cement. Almost all of the first columns appear poured and ready for a second level. The plumbing main lines look almost done. The elevator is close to being done on ground floor and second coming.......
