Really interested to see how these facade materials turn out in person, from up close and from afar. If the renderings don't do it justice, it'll turn out amazing. If the renderings are better than the final product, it'll be a total dud. Gehry's the connective tissue between Toronto and Los Angeles (born in the former, came up in and founded his practice in the latter, where he still resides), so hoping this one is better than The Grand, which turned out just okay.

Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners l Phase One sales*/pre-construction

A member of the Forma sales team leaked news to an UrbanToronto forum member that the first (east) tower was nearly sold out* earlier this month.

Construction could start in the first or second quarter of next year, at which time sales for the super-tall will be launched by co-developers Westdale Properties, Great Gulf Group and Dream Unlimited. Promising news indeed.

No matter how great the materials are , the proportions and details lack the Elegance of 8 Spruce Street.

Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners l demo/site prep soon

Looks like barriers and construction hoarding being set up for Phase 1 demo/site prep. Frank will be pleased. Penthouse sold for $20 million.

daptive

Phase 1 is the shorter tower on the right below (263 metres - 73 storeys).

UT

Phase 1 would eventually join the Top 10 u/c in Canada thread in the 4th spot unless one of the Sugar Wharf Phase 2 talls (299m and 290m) beats it to u/c status.

Are they keeping the facades of the buildings currently on site? They don't appear to be heritage-worthy, but I know little about what qualifies in Toronto.

So it begins… the first of 2 Gehry skyscrapers for his home town. Demolition complete and shoring on site.

Very excited that this is progressing. Seemed like they might have missed their window for sales. Gehry isn't getting any younger so will be nice to see him complete a project in Toronto.
