Clark readies for 5 millionth passenger
Published on Thursday, 22 November 2012 00:00
By A Web design Company

BAGUIO CITY – Clark International Airport is preparing for the arrival of its 5 millionth passenger this week, made possible by the entry of budget carriers into the country.

Darwin Cunanan, Clark International Airport vice president for commercial and business development, said the bulk of travelers using Clark come from Northern Luzon.

A P1 billion expansion project will extend the two 3.2-km parallel runways to 4 km each to accommodate new-generation, wide-body aircraft.

Cunanan said aviation upgrades are also set for the expansion of the airport as well as the construction of a budget airline terminal to cater to the new market of travelers.

Cunanan said the travelers prefer to skimp on airfare but splurge on amenities overseas. “This way more people can travel,” he said.

By 2013, Cunanan forecasts, an additional 1.6 passengers will be flying out from the airport.

The Clark airport is designed to unclog the NAIA and cater to Northern Luzon passengers. “We can easily surpass the NAIA in terms of flights as well as passengers load,” Cunanan said.

Ford breaks ground in Alabang, then opens showroom in Pampanga
22 Nov 2012

It has been a busy day indeed for Ford Philippines. After breaking ground in the morning for the new Ford dealership in Alabang, the company then proceeded to formally open the new Ford dealership in Pampanga in the afternoon.

The new Ford Pampanga facility is the second sales and service outlet designed and built according to the American carmaker's Brand@Retail II standard, which invokes Ford's brand pillars of Quality, Green, Safe and Smart. With this standard, Ford hopes to make its showrooms both "comforting and customer-friendly." Ford Cainta, opened last month, was the first Ford dealership to reflect this showroom-design standard.

Located in San Fernando, Pampanga, the newly opened Ford showroom sits on a property that measures 4,852sqm. It features a dealership floor space of 3,100sqm and a 13-car showroom. Its service area is found on two floors, with the ground floor having 13 service bays and two wash bays and the second floor having 14 service bays.

"We are very proud to open the doors of our new Ford Pampanga dealership and cater to our growing customer base in central Luzon," said Ford Pampanga dealer principal Levy Laus. "We look forward to bringing even more class-leading Ford vehicles and quality service to our expanding base of loyal Ford customers."

Meanwhile, the new Ford Alabang dealership, which is set to be completed in 2014, will be one of the largest Ford dealerships not just in the Philippines but also in the ASEAN region. Located on Alabang-Zapote Road, it will cover an area of 4,000sqm and feature a four-floor layout, a 25-car showroom and an 80-vehicle servicing capacity.

"We are thrilled to start construction on the new Ford Alabang facility, which promises to be one of the largest automotive facilities in the Philippines," said Ford Alabang dealer principal Paolo Borromeo. "Our investment in this new facility underscores our confidence in the One Ford plan, and will allow us to welcome even more customers into our showroom, providing them with world-class customer experience."

Ford Philippines is making good on its promise that in spite of the closure of its manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna, earlier this year, it will continue to expand its business in the country. The company has revealed that its plan is to ultimately bring the number of its dealers to 35.

Mt. Arayat | A Clear Day At Last
Thursday, November 29, 2012

We took the same itinerary as my previous traverses, entered the mountain from Brgy. Ayala, Magalang, then exited at Brgy. Juan Baño, Arayat, but unlike before, we finished the whole traverse in just 9.5 hours (2.5 hours shorter than my 2nd AraTrav). We began our trek at 07:00 AM, and ended at around 04:20 PM.

One significant change in this climb is that we took the new trail in the Magalang side of the mountain, and not the traditional trail that passes through the rooty-rocky trail and the junction to white rock. This "New Magalang Trail", otherwise known as the "Poste Trail", is just one month old according to the military men at the north peak. It cuts the original trek time to about 1-2 hours, a faster trail but indeed much steeper, and not that scenic as well.

The "New Magalang Trail" or "Poste Trail", it was created for the installation of electric posts. This trail will branch out from the traditional trail somewhere at the talahiban part (where you can see the White Rock ahead of you).
It is pretty much a newly created trail, just one month old. Freshly cut trees, fallen branches and loose soil are the characteristics of this trail. It's much shorter and a lot steeper than the original trail.
the poste trail (blue arrow) reconnects with the traditional trail (yellow arrow) near the north peak where you can find the rope support (that's about less than 5 minutes to the cell site at the north peak). I was surprised that our group reached the North Peak at 09:45 AM (usually at that point of time, we were still resting at the White Rock area). Lunch and rest we did there, actually we had plenty of time since we arrived at the summit quite too early.

a target range now replaces the flag pole at the north peak
our group proceeded to the ridge by 11:20 AM., and completed the traverse from north to south peak by 01:00 PM Probably the best part of my third Arayat Traverse is that we had an awesome, very cooperative weather. Thus, we were able to take home a lot of gorgeous photos.

South Peak view deck, magnificent Pampanga plains at the backdrop.
that's me standing at the Arayat's pedestal
Mt. Arayat now has a place in my heart. It truly makes me happy that I had experienced the bests and the worsts of it. It is definitely one of those mountains na hindi nakakasawang balik-balikan.
