Hola Madrid !

I spent a few days in Madrid this week. I'd never been before - super city, really beautiful and dynamic, full of wonderful buildings, some of the world's greatest art galleries and an unstoppable nightlife.

These pictures do little more than scratch the surface really - lots of the usual tourist sights (I was just a usual tourist).

Still, hope you enjoy!!

You are certainly are!!

In addition to all the grand old buildings, Madrid has a lot of exiciting new architecture as well. I was surprised to see four enormous, spectacular new skyscapers, each about 800ft high, being constructed on the outskirts (you can just make them out in my first pic). These towers easily compare with anything being built in Asia or America. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera to hand when we went past them in the taxi...

You were surprised ?

Are we allowed to say that on this forum ?

I guess we have to forgive you because your photos are always great, but, don't ever do that again, OK ?

My sister lives in Madrid, in a building similar to the ones in the last picture. It's one of my favourite cities - I particularly like Park Retiro.

Holy shiite. I'm so used to seeing nothing but rooftop shots in Madrid threads, that the urban canyons and street level density you show here is awesomely suprising. Looks like a truly huge and great city...
