It's funny, in the four years I lived in Calgary I never went there once. But down there it was also a place to take your classic car or motorbike, sort of like the Tims on Whyte.

I did stop at the one in Red Deer last year when a colleague and I were headed down to Calgary for a meeting. I couldn't believe the portion sizes... HUGE! But I agree, I think there's better burgers out there so we'll see, but I bet the name alone drives enough traffic to make it successful

Now you've got me flashing back to the A&W in Beverly as a kid, with all the classic cars parked in the stalls, and the food trays hooked onto the windows by the waitresses. I can still picture their uniforms and the little change dispensers hooked to their outfits.

Ownership changed and that's when I noticed the change beginning to happen. It's still good, the shakes on a summer day are a staple for us. I don't eat the food often but when I have it's been good value (portions are huge) and for a fast food joint it's okay. We typically stop there in Red Deer on the way back home from Edmonton but with the new interchange set up that's getting to be a real nuisance now.

Looks pretty good! I hope the location works out for them. Not the highest foot traffic in that area IIRC, so hopefully they become a destination.

I am there most days. It is generally quite busy all day. They close at 5 but are open when I get in at 7:30.

Great food and great service.

Great to see vacancies filling up and a devoted ramen place Downtown! Do you think it will take up more than one CRU?

Downtown Dining Week to showcase Downtown’s Diverse Dining Scene
JOANNE MCGOWAN, POSTMEDIA

Calling all foodies! It’s the most delicious time of the year to start booking reservations at your favourite restaurants. Running from March 8 to 17, a record-setting 50 of Downtown Edmonton’s finest restaurants will participate in the 15th annual Downtown Dining Week, offering fix-priced lunch, dinner and, new for 2019, brunch menus.

The 10-day celebration is the biggest restaurant event of the year and gives local foodies and visitors a chance to experience Downtown’s rich culinary diversity.

“Downtown Edmonton is home to amazing restaurants that have garnered national and international attention, landing on lists like Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants in Canada, and written up by the UK’s Telegraph newspaper, Vanity Fair magazine and The Guardian newspaper,” says Ian O’Donnell, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Association. “There’s no other Edmonton event that gives diners the opportunity to enjoy great food at such great prices, while finding new and exciting places to explore our transforming Downtown,” he adds.

Did the Denny’s Downtown close? I drove by today and noticed signs up on the doors, but couldn’t see what they said.

has it been recently renovated? The company is renovating their restaurants one at a time right now and they have to close a bit to do so.

Downtown Dennys is closed due to a flood from a couple of weeks ago, not sure if or when they'll re-open.
