I took this picture from Belmont Plateau on Sunday morning. The Laurel really fills out the skyline from this angle. It'll be even better once the developments on JFK by 30th Street get off the ground.

This view will look amazing when the Cathedral Square and Penn's Landing Projects finally come to fruition.

I would also like to put out here that my title of that update article was also changed. Originally the title stated how the last floor slab has been finished, but was changed in edits that weren't mine

Sections of the construction elevator have been placed above the concrete roof, signifying that steel is coming soon. The topping out date has been pushed back to 9/28

$300M Laurel project in Rittenhouse nears expected record-setting sale of 48th-floor penthouse

https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...pping-off.html

Quote:
As Southern Land Co. ceremoniously marks the topping off of the 48-story Laurel, the company is approaching other milestones for the $300 million residential project on Rittenhouse Square.

The Nashville-based real estate company is closing in on the sale of the Laurel's $25 million penthouse at what is expected to be a record price for a Center City residential unit, and estimates that by November more than half of its 65 condominiums will be sold. Southern Land has also secured the first Philadelphia location of Equinox, a tony fitness company that will occupy 35,000 square feet in the building.

Fantastic! Handsome building record sale price, huge sales all around, Equinox, and a Michael Schulson restaurant.

Anyone know what the plan is for those support beams for the podium? It looks like they cemented them into the mat?

My assumption has been that those are temporary and will be cut and removed once a sufficient amount of reinforced concrete is in place to hold back the dirt behind that shoring (which is visible to the right of that white sheeting material), and prevent any foundation failure of the closely neighboring high-rise. Otherwise, their placement doesn't make much sense (at least to me).
