For the 3 cities I've called home:

Minneapolis:
Going south over the I-35W Bridge over the Mississippi.
https://www.google.com/maps/@44.9793...=en&authuser=0

Milwaukee:
Going north over the Hoan Bridge into Milwaukee is pure magic!
https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0248...=en&authuser=0

Sacramento:
Driving on the elevated portion of Hwy 50/Business 80 south of the Grid where you can barely see the skyline because of all the trees <3

After reading the first post, I would say these are the first few places that came to mind for me:

First is Passyunk Ave. in South Philadelphia:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9298...7i16384!8i8192

Second, people watching in Rittenhouse Square;
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9497...7i13312!8i6656

And what's Philly if you don't show one of the incredibly narrow streets: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9479...7i16384!8i8192

The Belmont Plateau is one of the most popular natural vantage points to take in the skyline: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9907...!7i8704!8i4352

Yeah, the Fort Pitt tunnel "entrance" to the city.

I think that's a great experience... riding on a tight, curvy highway surrounded by lush hills without a building in sight, into a long tunnel through the mountain, to emerge out the other side onto a bridge in a vast open valley... and boom, city.

It's just more of the whole experience for me, rather than the specific view of the city I guess.

I've always felt like coming down Hwy 97, and towards the bridge gives me that "home" feeling. Even though, I don't live in Kelowna anymore, it's still home in many ways.

For Vancouver, it's coming down Cambie St, and hitting 12th.

For Vancouver #1 has to be over the Lion's Gate Bridge southbound from the North Shore when it looks like you're dipping into a primeval forest with a teeming metropolis right beside it.

https://goo.gl/maps/TkBnjZDz92UZSybR9

Also the bridges from the South into Downtown

These are good, I'll add a couple. The view of downtown from 71 south or Reading Road has always been a favorite of mine:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1106...7i16384!8i8192

Also always loved this block of Chestnut Street in Mariemont. A friend of mine used to live on this block, and this view captures the cozy, perfectly scaled, village atmosphere of this charming neighborhood:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1466...7i16384!8i8192

this view of Main Street in OTR. Cincinnati at its best and prettiest:

I was trying my damnedest to get something off 71 southbound near Reading Road but Street View kept placing me on an underpass facing a retaining wall

Here's another for Flagstaff on San Francisco Street heading north.

The train station and Downtown are on the other side of the railroad tracks, and the intersection at the stoplight is San Francisco and Route 66. The San Francisco Peaks and Mt. Elden are off in the distance.

For LA, there are several for me.

1) The interchange from the 105 to the 110N, especially in winter. You see the skyline framed by snow capped mountains and the rest of the city in front of you.

https://www.google.com/maps/@33.9287...no!7i797!8i606

2) Baldwin hills overlook with the mountains behind the city

3) Looking south from the 110 freeway towards downtown before you get to Dodger Stadium

4) Santa Monica bay looking towards Malibu

I've always liked this view of Ottawa while crossing the Bridge over from Gatineau.

https://www.google.com/maps/@45.4368...7i16384!8i8192

Then there's Wellington at the Parliaments buildings.

I love this view looking West down Front Street with Union Station across from the venerable old Royal York Hotel.

Pic by me, taken today.

Yes, nothing like tall brown dead palm trees.

For Toronto, pulling up on the elevated part of the Gardiner with BMO Field to your right, the CN Tower and downtown skyline straight ahead, and Liberty Village to the left. A wonderful mess of billboards, trains, urbanism, and a definite feeling of "welcome to the big city".

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.63509...7i16384!8i8192

Coming from the east, it's coming down the DVP, emerging from the lush Don Valley and seeing the subway go across the Bloor St bridge and the uptown skyline:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.67850...7i16384!8i8192

Really, the Gardiner is the "big city vibes" generator of note:

Hamilton has a few.

Pulling off the 403 and getting onto the 5 lane main st is something.. interesting, and uniquely Hamilton.

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.25979...7i16384!8i8192

Continuing east, going down the hill into the core:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.25723...7i16384!8i8192

The elevated expressway into the industrial area is always a very distinctly Hamilton experience:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.25890...7i16384!8i8192

Going over the Burlington Skyway and seeing the skyline, Burlington Bay, Niagara Escarpment, and Steel Mills is how most people know Hamilton:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.29842...7i16384!8i8192

The best entrance to Hamilton will always be the McQueston High Level Bridge though:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.28032...7i16384!8i8192

Coming down Arkledun down the Escarpment into Downtown:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.24551...7i16384!8i8192

King St through Gore Park:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.25607...7i16384!8i8192

stopping at the Sydenham Rd viewpoint:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.27771...7i16384!8i8192

I remember doing some work in Hamilton and was parked at the strip plaza there and could see three different Tim Hortons within a couple hundred metres of where I was standing. That's how you know you're in Hamilton.
