I took these pictures around Tempe Town Lake today. SRP has been releasing water down the typically dry Salt River due to the week's storms. Due to the high volume of water released, the Tempe Town Lake dams have been partially deflated, creating a very cool and uncommon waterfall.
When fully inflated, the dams at the west end of the lake are 16 feet tall, making them the tallest inflatable dams in North America.

Looking down the Salt River past the dam. The Salt River has been dry through Phoenix since the completion of the Granite Reef Diversion Dam in 1909, except for major rain events that force SRP to release water down the river.

I really wish there was a pedestrian bridge at each end of the lake over the dams. I think it would make the lake experience even more interesting (though I understand the costs involved in such an endeavor).

There are plans to build a pedestrian bridge on the West side of the lake. I believe it is designed to go over the dam itself. If you look back in the Tempe thread you should find a render of it. It looks pretty nice.

Wow those are some awesome photos! I've never seen pics of Phoenix with that much water flowing! It's funny how there is just a lone tree in front of the dam too.
