Nice video. The crazy thing is despite all of the changes BW has seen in the past 15 years, the biggest changes are yet to come. It'll look completely different in a few more years.

Here's a video I did of Taipei the other day. I love filming in this city

The Art of Engineering channel has probably the most detailed documentary of the CN Tower's design and construction I've seen so far. The structure and its construction are even more complex than I realized.

Bold claim about being "the most Asian city in North America." I suppose it squeaks by by a hair's breadth over Markham, little more than a rounding error, but you could argue that Markham's larger raw numbers in a still comparatively-sized city and the fact that it has the largest Asian mall outside of Asia give it the edge. Either way, it would have been more accurate to call Richmond "one of the most Asian cities in North America."

Markham population 2016: 328,966
Asian population: 230,680
Asian percentage: 70.1% (tallying up percentages comes to 70.4%)

https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-r...TABID=1&type=1

Richmond population 2016: 198,309
Asian population: 140,535
Asian percentage: 70.9% (tallying up percentages comes to 71.5%)

Richmond is definitely the most Asian city between the two. It’s not just about the respective percentages of Asians making up each city’s population. More importantly, it’s also about the degree of influence that each Asian population has had on shaping their city’s cultural and commercial landscape. In that respect, Richmond indisputably feels much more Asian than Markham. The Asian population in Richmond may be about 71%, but its influence on the overall identity of the the city feels much closer to 90%. I think any honest person who has recently spent time in both cities would have no difficulty in declaring which city feels more Asian.

I'd be interested to see some evidence for this. I don't know how you can ascertain that two places with the same proportionate Asian population would feel so vastly different. Unless, maybe, the two cities were situated in completely different political realities where one of them was forced to subdue its cultural expression?

Is Markham a more suburban enclave than Richmond BC? Would that colour your impressions of the two places? Even so, I can't think of anywhere outside of Asia where you would be more "engulfed in an Asian experience" than the Pacific Mall. Perhaps there are Japanese communities in Sao Paulo that "feel more Asian"?

I found this video quite fun. it's a compilation of short clips where people (mostly on Youtube but also legacy media) discuss the Montreal Metro and describe what they enjoy about it. There's also a few pieces from our very own RM Transit.

I love going the the PAC Mall but it's so run down. I know they had plans to replace it, I wonder what's the hold up?

If anybody was curious, this is what the PAC Mall replaced back in the late 80's.

Oh no, fallen down the rabbit hole. Just came across the old Ontario song and the Expo 67 song. Did any other provinces or territories create songs for the centennial year?

It's got a very midwestern sound to it.

This one does Hamilton justice.

Go to 16:50 to see what has been from day one in 1985 the absolute ugliest sports arena in North America, arguably the world. I'd be surprised if its title has ever been taken.

Hamilton has a nice downtown. Looks to be a lot bigger than downtown Ottawa. I had to worked in downtown Hamilton twice many years ago and liked the vibe. It reminds me of an American city.
