Wow TRiToNDREyJA, thanks for those. That last rendering shows that my issue really is with the ugly podium, but that is an easy fix if someone chooses to do it. Hopefully they do. The height looks great right in the centre of downtown.

905er, check out the Wpg construction thread, about 10 pages back. A diagram of a new building was leaked.

Thanks!... It's gross. Yay for the height though!.. but let's just hope that is a VERY preliminary rendering.. b/c it already looks very dull and dated.

I guess the big thing I'm starting to worry about is that this building is going to give Winnipeg a table top skyline.

It's not a make or break thing for me it just doesn't present an attractive skyline. What we need is a skyscraper that punches so far above that people have no confusion about which one is tallest. A peak, if you will.

In any case, as I said earlier, the density is always welcome it's just such a crappy looking design.

I've done some massing for the railside development based on their concept release documents.

Color coded based on the phases, from the sky its a big game changer.

Wow. That's impressive. For short buildings, they will pack real skyline punch and modernize the foreground of the typical skyline postcard shots. (Sidenote, does anyone still send postcards?)

I got one last year. It's one of those nostalgic things. Like wearing wrist watches or listening to records.

"Having a great time! Wish you were here! Love, Doris"

Yeah, I can see the retro appeal

hahaha yup pretty much.

Canada Post actually sent out pre paid postcards this year to everyone. So you could write something and send it to a friend.

^A buddy of mine sends me postcards all the time whether he's travelling or not. I must have hundreds now. They're thought provoking, interesting, little pieces of peoples lives and fun. And who doesn't like to get personal mail?

Send one out and check the reaction. I dare you.

I never realized how old this photo taken by WPG guy was (taken in 2007) until he mentioned it yesterday, so I took the liberty to make a gif.

Shows the construction/guaranteed proposals that happened since, and then the St Regis tower afterward. Pretty impressive in hindsight.

Wow, what a difference. It would be nice if we could get a second peak of towers around the Osborne/Corydon Village areas.

There is one more building missing - a new 17 storey building on Stadbrook across the Harkness station. Also a proposal on Mayfair ave will add quite a bit to the skyline.

Yes, You are talking about ....The Spot at East Village 18 floor tower ...adds some height, as will the 23 floor Wawanesa tower starting to rise (it will be in the top 10 for height for the city @ 93 metres) and whenever SUTTON HOTEL & Residences tower go forward.
Plus a new 20 floor residential tower each for 634 Portage, another on Colony plus possibly 2 at same height for Portage Place towers.

I agree.. the more I look at Tritons renders the more I realize I wouldn't mind a building of that design + magnitude in that spot, I just can't stand the overhang at the top.

I completely underestimated the scale of the Portage Place towers...

This was a model made with conservative estimates & a floor to floor height under 3 meters O.O

These are awesome. The first pic could also include the PPP proposal for the former McNaught Motors site at Portage and Furby.

Oh? I don't think I know of this proposal actually... Would love to be enlightened.

EDIT: I think it's at 634 Portage, correct me if I'm wrong.
