Some quick drive-by shots of Amway Grand Plaza, from US-131, taken yesterday. At least from afar, the reglazing looks good, and it looks done (finally). Bonus, you can spot the tower crane in the first two shots for the new Perrigo HQ in the distance -

Speaking of Perrigo, I haven't found any good photos, but the tower did celebrate its topping out this past week, as evidenced by this tree -

Well I guess this is finally happening (it's been in planning stages for years). The $19 million, 56-unit senior living facility will be built for The Inner City Christian Federation (ICCF) on the southern half of the block bound by Wealthy and Logan streets and Sheldon and Division avenues -

$40M Amway Grand Plaza Hotel renovation complete

Quote:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A $40 million renovation to Grand Rapids’ iconic Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is complete.

Managing company AHC Hospitality announced the milestone Monday after crews replaced the final panes of the downtown landmark’s glass exterior. The updated tower is now welcoming guests.

Crews have been working on the 656-room hotel since January 2019. Rockford Construction oversaw the project, with architectural firm Gensler and Progressive AE handling design.

That Amway renovation did take a while, but it was worth it. I stayed in a tower suite one time when I visited family in GR. It was awesome.

Yes, it was long overdue.

New artwork was installed near the corner of Lyon and Monroe a week ago (artist Jaume Plensa). Amazing how different this intersection feels now -

Studio Park poised to add 16-story housing tower in Grand Rapids

Quote:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The developers that brought Studio Park to downtown Grand Rapids are getting ready to add a 16-story tower filled with apartments to the site.

Jackson Entertainment, LLC expects to invest about $52 million into Phase 2 of the development, which is located at the southwest corner of Ionia Avenue and Oakes Street SW.

The tower would be built on the existing parking structure near US-131. First-floor amenities would include a pool, terrace, fitness facility and community room, according to a memo submitted to the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority. It’s also expected to include a 700-square-foot retail art gallery, according to a memo submitted to the Grand Rapids Economic Development Team.

The 11 floors above that would each contain 15 apartments – a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units. The top four floors would be reserved for about two dozen condominiums that would be sold to homeowners. In all, the project is expected to add at total of 189 market-rate housing units — nearly double what Studio Park currently has.

The new tower is on the right

Rockford Construction is planning to build a 245-unit apartment building on the west side of Grand Rapids. It's really great to see all of these quality projects coming to GR.
