Was reading Biz New Orleans latest issue and it says this company will be the operator of the Showroom on the second floor of Caesars... same level as The Fillmore but on the other side of the second floor.

Great to see the Charity redevelopment officially moving forward.

I know there was initially talk of a WeWork type of operator taking over 150,000 sq. ft of space, but the TP/Advocate article makes that seem less certain. Given how the pandemic has changed the nature of office work, I would think that type of office space would be more popular for remote workers who need a desk space outside of the home for a few days or weeks. All in all, very exciting news!

I'm going to guess the project is dead. The pending units are no longer on the MLS and nothing is listed for sale. The insta account hasn't been updated since the pandemic. Hopefully someone builds it down the road.

Fantastic news, I know we've all been following this for so long and I'm very happy to see it finally happen. That's the last part of downtown that needs a revival

Would be nice to see UNO build a bigger presence in the city and not just be seen as a suburban commuter school if its other academic institutions they're targeting.

Completely agree. They could also use a lot more retail/restaurants near campus. UNO released a master plan earlier this year that's pretty impressive assuming these improvements actually happen.

That developer hasnt had much success on the two attempts hes made to build there. I wouldnt waste my time personally putting a deposit down there when so many other places actually get built. Location is smack up against the overpass and to build anything really desirable needs to be tall but that also means expensive.. hope something does happen though just not holding my breath

This PepBoys project on Tulane/Carrolton: Are they tearing down some of those janky-ass buildings on Tulane as part of this project? Is this also taking over the vacant lot next to Hieux House? Not my most favorite thing to put there but I'll take it.

Yes some of those buildings will be town down. Overall, will help to clean up that block at least

Looks like RTA also consolidated some stops, which should hopefully speed things up a bit. There's no reason for the streetcar to stop every block.

Description:
This permit is for the renovation of an existing 41,703 square foot building owned by the American Red Cross. Project work is to include the conversion of the first-floor level office space into parking, partial replacement of existing first floor level storefront glazing with perforated metal screen, placement of two new exterior doors for vehicular access, replacement of existing chain link fencing with a new security fencing and gate, removal of existing ground level radio tower, and replacement of existing MEP systems throughout the facility. Painting of the existing exterior brick façade is under consideration. Additional renovations include a complete interior renovation to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. At the time, the 3rd and 4th floors would be “shell space” for a future tenant, storage, and mechanical rooms. The 2nd floor renovation would primarily be used for administrative office space and training rooms by the American Red Cross.
