I thought this was a Google sketchup rendering superimposed on the actual site for a second. Nope! That's the actual completed project

O-tacular, I knew a guy that lived in one of the taller commie blocks you posted.
After seeing his apartment with one of the worst views from his balcony I was very thankful to live just north of downtown in Renfrew in a human scale sized 4 storey building by comparison.

I also thought it was a Sketchup model at first. It’s so bad it creates an optical illusion of artificiality. It’s the uncanny valley of ugliness.

Your poor friend must have had a depressing view. The west end of DT is still drab but now features contemporary flourishes of cartoon NYC condo architecture.

A former co worker actually moved back home and bought in this development. I don't think it'll ever be more than a little exurban town square, but its certainly got a nice cohesive style to it. Not sure about the price - I'm fairly certain you can get a lot of nice houses in some pretty good Ottawa neighborhoods in this range, but they'll probably have less of a headache buying a new house pretending to be old than an actual old house.

I'm sure you'll all be shocked to learn that Baydo's engineering and construction practices are as sound as their design chops:

1 person hospitalized after partial collapse of Saskatoon building, say police

Surely they'll be sued and/or fined into oblivion eventually? Right? Right? (I have to hold out hope for this as a Saskatonian captive to their abominations.)

Is Baydo Mexican for soul-sucking?

Maybe they'll be the solution to the housing shortage, just build commie blocks en-masse in new settlements across Canada.

Calgary already has a giant blue porta potty condo building:

The coiled turd in front of the bunker podium suits it perfectly!

The back side is even worse!

They'll have to figure out how to take less than 5 years to build each one if that's their plan

I was in Niagara Falls this past weekend. This tower was very near my hotel (I stayed at the Embassy Suites, next door).

^alas, I was with extended family, and couldn't get away long enough to trek half a block down to Castle Dracula (which, according to online reviews, is a terrible experience).

Speaking of ugly,

“It’s Dimitri calling again - the guy from the street.

“I left you a message several days ago. I don’t like leaving second messages, but I like you: you’re a very elegant woman, you’re very attractive. But I don’t play that game. So, this is how its going to work.

“If I do not receive a phone call back from you by 3 o’clock on Thursday afternoon, I’m no longer interested.

“I’m very intelligent, I’m great in bed, I make great money. Believe it or not, I’m a complete catch.

“A matter of fact, I am one few men in the city that has nothing wrong with him.

“Now, I understand if you’ve got other issues. Maybe you were abused in childhood? Maybe you’re just somebody who’s extremely frightened and has an anxiety disorder? Maybe you’re on some medication for that? I don’t know. There could be another issue.

“If you’re psychologically normal, and you haven’t called me because there has been some horrible thing that’s happened in your life which prevented you, that’s fine.”
