Lol, we don't even care about their money. We only care about development here.

They have nothing to fear about us, 'the poor'. We no longer give a shit about them anyway.
Look at this and always remember:

If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of heaven! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven."

That's just it. No secret, it's been said for 2000 years.

At least the tone of the news coverage is calling out their bullshit, and not being polite to entitled rich pieces of shit.

Preparations Underway For BIG’s Two-Skyscraper Development Along Williamsburg’s Waterfront

Quote:
Preparations for construction appear to be underway at the site of the River Street Waterfront Master Plan, Bjarke Ingels Group‘s proposed two-skyscraper, 1000-unit complex along the Williamsburg waterfront in Brooklyn. Developed by Two Trees, the project includes the 600-foot-tall 87 River Street and 650-foot-tall 105 River Street, as well as the alteration of the shoreline to create a circular beach, a 2.9-acre park, and two breakwaters directly to the north of the six-acre Domino Park.

Of the development’s residences, 25 percent, or exactly 250 units, will be allocated toward affordable housing. The complex will also feature a 47,000-square-foot YMCA community gym with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, as well as 57,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of retail area. Other features include a tree-covered picnic spot, a nature trail with bird lookout points, a lawn, an outdoor tidal classroom, an amphitheater, a salt marsh, porch swings, a boat launch, kiosks for boat rentals, and locally run eateries on the southern end of the property.

in December that approvals from City Hall, the Department of City Planning, and the US Army Corps of Engineers will be needed before construction commences. The two-tower project is estimated to take about five years to complete, but no timeline has been released yet.

I thought that the developer needed permission from the Bolshevik community boards to proceed.

City Planning is whats important, and in this case the Army Corp.

The community boards, and their hack borough president only serve as advisory... its the city planning thats important. I expect this to rise, even amidst the bs from the locals.

That's a mid rise lol.

Yeah I guess its a good thing when folks aren't impressed with 600 ft. But I think with this development, its location is quite pronounced. In Manhattan, this would just blend in, but for the area its in, its a big deal.

The higher one is 650, and in this location that's pretty good.

But yea like Chris said, NY is so spoiled that no one cares about a 600 footer

Plan for massive towers and public beach in Williamsburg moves ahead with new looks

MARCH 18, 2021
BY DEVIN GANNON

Quote:
The proposal to construct two mixed-use skyscrapers and a public beach on the North Brooklyn waterfront is moving forward, although with an updated design, timeline, and name. As first reported by Brooklyn Paper, Two Trees Management is preparing to start the city’s uniform land use review procedure (ULURP) in the coming weeks for its project “River Ring,” which includes two huge towers designed by Bjarke Ingels with more than 1,000 units of housing, a YMCA, and an environmentally-conscious park with a cove and beach.
Quote:
First unveiled by Two Trees in late 2019, the project originally called for two towers, one at 650 feet and the other at 600, with 1,000 units of housing. The revised plan calls for a taller 710-foot tower on the southern side and a slightly shorter tower north tower at 560 feet. The proposed number of apartments increased to 1,050 units.

According to a newly launched website for the project, the affordable housing proposed for the project includes 263 permanently affordable rentals designated for those earning 60 percent of the area median income (AMI) and 27 units for those earning 40 percent of the AMI, which would mean $1,366/month and $854/month two-bedroom apartments for those households, respectively.
Quote:
Because a zoning change is required, the so-called River Ring Waterfront Master Plan must go through ULURP, in addition to securing a permit from the Department of Environment Conservation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Two Trees previously told reporters that the land use review process could take at least two years to complete, with the construction of the entire project lasting at least five years. The park would be completed alongside the first building, Two Trees principal Jed Walentas had said.

The developers held meetings with the community at the beginning of last year, but the coronavirus pandemic put those sessions on hold. Following an environmental impact review, the developer aims to complete the ULURP by the end of 2021, as a spokesperson for Two Trees told Brooklyn Paper.

..... Two Trees will present its updated proposal to the Land Use, and ULURP and Landmarks Subcommittee of Brooklyn Community Board 1 in early April.

Hmmm. I think I preferred the previous darker color. We'll see.

NYC continues to impress!

The East River in general is becoming a wall of skyscrapers and high rises.

If you look at river aerials 7 years ago, versus now... the change has been dramatic.

Looks like they added a little bridge connecting the ring to the southern portion of the seawall. That's a nice touch.

Dang, I much prefer the red/orange color. There are way too many white & light grey/beige towers in Brooklyn.
