They have repositioned the tower crane at 2265 Mountain Road to allow for construction of the upper floors on the second of these two buildings:

This project at 2223 Mountain Road now has a construction card on the CCD Canada website:

This means they are soliciting contractors, and are probably looking at construction next year.

Acadian Forest Cafe has opened at the Magnetic Hill Zoo. They are sharing space in a new building with a Beavertails location.

This is Beavertails second Moncton location. They of course are also located at Magic Mountain.

I still think that a Cows Ice Cream at Magnetic Hill would be a slam dunk. They could operate a seasonal location, just like the one on the Halifax waterfront.

Former Regina Costco site to house car dealership, pending city council approval

(Source: CBC)

Quote:
Neher & Associates, on behalf of Olympic Motors, has applied to the city to redevelop the former Costco Wholesale site at 665 University Park Drive into a Regina Auto Gallery car dealership.

The application requires city council to rezone the area. The site became vacant when Costco Wholesale moved to 2110 Anaquod Road.

The proposed 15,410 square metre area would have both indoor and outdoor retail for the dealership. The outdoor retail will include 277 stalls for outdoor displays and 248 parking stalls for customers and staff.
I wonder if this could be a solution for the massive COSTCO/Kent hole at Trinity?

I'm not sure if the proximity to the Rallye cluster would make this more or less realistic.

An "auto village" might have been a good thought at one point, but Moncton will soon have almost every type of car dealership imaginable (Volvo and Lexus excepted), and most dealerships in the city have either been recently renovated or newly constructed.

I personally was hoping for a new Cineplex with IMAX and a Rec Room/Playdium, but the whole movie exhibition industry is now on life support thanks to the pandemic, and this likely won't happen either.

The $10M that Costco wants for the building is a huge impediment for redevelopment. I'm sure Irving will want something similar for the Kent store.

I think the only option is to raze that entire section of Wheeler Park and start afresh, likely with some form of mixed use high density residential development.

I would agree with MonctonRad. The Kent/Costco location isn't a good fit for a car dealership. I can't see an existing dealership relocating nor a new one picking this location.

Mixed use would be the way to go. It really comes down to return on investment. Having a residential component above ground floor commercial might be the best way to make the numbers work. It would be great to see another signature development happening here.

There are plans for a new Burger King/KFC combo restaurant at 2780 Mountain Road. This is north of the TCH, across from Tee Time Drive, and just to the south of The Boardwalk.

I saw a job posting on Indeed for Burger King/KFC manager yesterday and I was super confused but not it all makes sense. I always thought the City could support another BK as well.

There's only 35 parking spaces for the two restaurants, and total seating capacity is 94. It's pretty clear where their business model lies...…….

It's kinda funny though. If they were planning on drawing traffic from the TCH, you would think they would have had more parking and seating.

Put a new Cath Lab next to that. Make it a one-stop shop.
KFC, Rotten Ronnie's, Tim's, BK, AandW, Subway - and free artery-blockage clearing if you spend more than $50.

Thrive Properties have released a "sneak peek" rendering for what they have proposed for Mapleton Park Place (former Mapleton Crossing):

You can see the old Cabela's store in the background.

MID West Industrial Park Update:

1) - The Jessem Tools manufacturing plant is nearing the end of construction. The parking lot received it's final coat of pavement this week.
2) - A substantial addition to the Global Pet Food facility is underway.
3) - A new lot on DesBrisay Avenue is undergoing initial site preparation for a new build. This is located not too far from the Atlantic Outdoor store. No idea what this is for.

This 28 unit apartment building is proposed for 461 Ryan Street.

T&T photo

This project was insignificant enough that I wasn't even going to mention it, but the T&T had an article in the paper, and included a photo, so what the hell.........

This is on the east end of Ryan, on the north side of the street, between Lady Russel and Coleman.

They're now installing a proper tower crane on site at 2430 Mountain Road. I presume that the mini-tower crane next to it will remain for the time being.
