Ah yes, the hamster wheel. I used to think it was a ridiculous design. Now...I think its a ridiculous design, but something we could use to make downtown a bit more interesting. It was ahead of its time when it was proposed.

Back to the Republic: As the ABJ article noted, the ePlan Review is for the building permit, not site plan revision. Building permit drawings are not typically posted, unlike site development permit drawings. So unless the differences in square footage are more than a typo, and it requires a site plan revision, we are not likely to get any information until Lincoln comes forward with more information.

Man, as a millenial, I thought that rendering photo of the guy looks like Anderson Paak rather than Lenny Kravitz lol

On topic: the best feature of the Republic design is the uninterrupted plane on the north side of the building - from ground to crown. It gives the building a certain power that I think is missing from podium-heavy designs. 6X will have a similar impact on the west side of that building.

I wonder if the addition of a museum to the Republic will change the design much.

And you'll be able to view that side from quite a distance because that side faces the square.

That was exactly my thought when I saw the rendering but I figured no one here would know who he was

Info about the changes should have been added to the ePlan Review by now. I hope Tesla didn't set a precedent by claiming copyright infringement on project info being added to permit filings.

Why would they do that? We're not the ones making copies of their buildings, Atlanta is.

The lastest info provided was that the site plan revision entered final review the last week of January.

I do not see a site plan revision pending. The pending application is for a building permit for shell construction. This suggests that whatever changes are contemplated (exchanging retail use for museum for instance) are not significant enough to trigger a site plan correction or amendment. I doesn't seem like the building is changing, unless they are still planning on filing a site plan amendment. But if that is the case the building permit cannot be approved until the amendment is.

Thanks for the clarification. You're probably correct. That was simply my interpretation of what The ATX posted a page or so back. Yes...assumptions were involved

The difference between these two is that awning over the setback on the east elevation, and that lighting that goes all the way to the top. The angles also seem a little different, but I can't tell if that's just the renderings.
