There's an overwhelming majority of people out there who just aren't affected by this and who have quite frankly seen and had enough of the restrictions and untold economic damage of the past year. The entire reason for forced restrictions is because of your line of thinking. Everyone needs to make sacrifices for the greater good right now. It's not harmless for put yourself at risk -- it gives the virus more chance to spread, and with each new infection there is the risk of new mutations that might be more dangerous or not covered by the vaccines. Maybe the current situation isn't dangerous for you, but that doesn't mean your actions won't result in greater danger to society as a whole.

Also, this isn't really a proper thread to even start this discussion.

As a datapoint, I want to offer the Indeed search term "hospitality jobs" in "Austin Texas" For those of us who've been furloughed for a nearly a year, the fog is is slowly, ever so slowly, starting to clear. There's a noticeable trickle of new jobs for hotels that are rehiring line level workers. I have to assume that restaurants and attractions are going to start following suit.

I've been really cautious for most of the year (and pretty down about my corner of the economy, TBH), but I'm coming around to the idea that we could see a pretty stellar comeback in the second half of the year and into 2022. "Pent up demand" isn't just a nice sentiment . . . I think it's actually a real thing.

Anyway, this is off topic, but for the first time in a long time I think things are actually starting to look up. Cross your fingers!

Things absolutely are turning a corner....and I'm often a pessimist! I was at the Domain with my mom recently and just looked around at the people. I don't know why, but I told her this was the beginning of the end (of the dark days).

Plus, I hugged her for the first time in a damn year!

I understand what you are saying. The Domain is our go to spot for nightlife and dinning. Austin has done well with succeeding through the covid issue. But when you go to places like the Domain where 90% of the people are not wearing masks it makes you think. How much worst could this be because they are not wearing masks.

The entire Broadmoor project seems to be seriously stalled due to Covid. It would be nice to actually see something happen there.

iirc three blocks are breaking ground this spring or summer. they were betting heavy on prop a+b passing since this was designed to be built around a transit hub.

The Broadmoor rail station was already paid for and in progress before Prop A passed.

That doesn't surprise me. I've been spotting it for well over a year now from Loop 360 heading west just before you cross Barton Creek before you come to Mopac. And there's a spot on I-35 south of Riverside where it's visible. There are a few other spots even farther south than that.

Yeah, Domain 3 keeps surprising me from all over the place now. And it just looks massive from the elevated section of 183. Driving west and seeing it, the Bowen and the stadium are pretty impressive.

You can now clearly see the Domain 3 tower from I-35 as you approach the Westinghouse Rd exit (which is technically Georgetown). I've seen it pop up from many other areas throughout Williamson county.
