They need that corner property on Lex. It's an eyesore that must come down. Also, it would be much easier to market a property to foreign buyers with a Lex Ave address than with an E 60th address.

I'm hoping the Chinese stick to their roots and make this a solid supertall. Hell, that location and the current market, 1200 feet would be nice.

Adjacent to Billionaire’s Row, the site provides prospective developers the opportunity to construct a global icon that will undoubtedly attract elite residential purchasers and draw top retail and commercial tenants from around the globe.
if going for the elite, than something to stand amongst the competition is needed. Now a global icon will need a tower worthy of eclipsing some of the greats currently rising.

The skyline and park views from this site will be incredible, but they will have to go very high, so I assume the design will be a skinny supertall. But we'll find out soon enough.

A Cushman & Wakefield team led by Bob Knakal, Helen Hwang and Clint Olsen marketed the site as a possible redevelopment into a condominium tower that would rise as high as 1,000 feet and contain a retail component.
Renderings also show this equal or slightly greater (matter of perception) than Bloomberg's pinnacle.

This is great design but I got a feeling it will not make it in its current form and will be value engineered.

Kuafu Properties Completes Buy of $300 Midtown East Site
By Liam La Guerre
Oct. 15, 2015

Quote:
Kuafu Properties has closed on the purchase of 143-161 East 60th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues for $300 million from the World Wide Group, according to a Cushman & Wakefield news release.

The site contains six attached low-rise buildings that sit on nearly 20,000 square feet, and is located across from Bloomingdale’s flagship store. It contains more than 282,000 buildable square feet.

Kuafu went into contract for the site in June, according to The Real Deal, and the Chinese developer is planning to build a luxury residential tower that could rise more than 1,000 feet tall. Marketing of the property began that same month. A spokesman for Kuafu did not immediately respond for comment.
Demolition soon!

This calls for a celebration!

Glad this will at least be over 250m+. Right now I am being prudent on whether we see a 1000+ feet, but even its its 900, still good news.

This looks 1000 ft flat.

From this rendering, it looks like it passes the Bloomberg Tower pinnacle (938 ft). Safe to say, a solid, to the roof super tall.
