The city of Albuquerque has issued a new RFP for the vacant lot on Silver Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets Downtown. This was the site of the Silver Avenue Flats proposal three years ago that emerged along with the Symphony Tower proposal from the Skyline Competition RFP issued under our former mayor. The Symphony Tower was canceled in early 2018 by the current mayor when he was newly in office. He later issued the Civic North RFP for the Symphony Tower's proposed site. However, It was unclear what happened to the Silver Avenue Flats proposal on this site. It was still mentioned as being in play in various articles and by various groups as recently as earlier this year. It has apparently fell through or was canceled as well by the mayor. Proposals for the new RFP are due by November 5th and must include high-density housing or be mixed-use.
