How convenient that the office space sq. ft. is basically exactly what Amazon needs for phase one of HQ2.

Austin, I hate you, lol.

Um okay... That was totally random.

This project was in the works long before Amazon's announcement.

He was just kidding. We also have over 600 sq. ft. at Block 71. Between just four buildings - 600 Guadalupe, Block 71 and the two state office towers - we have around 2.2 million sq. ft. of office space in the works downtown. That's pretty significant.

I figured as much but I just think it's funny that a lot of people are assuming an outcome when we won't know for months which city will be chosen. Honestly I'm more interested in when groundbreaking is planned for this beauty than anything else at the moment.

Personally I wouldn't include the state buildings since that office space is purely for government use.

Me too. I'm so Amazoned out right now. Just reading through the ridiculous and illogical boosterism and city vs. city nonsense on multiple forums makes me want to scream.

Me too. Its like hoping UT can beat USC this weekend. Certainly not a sure thing, but if it happens, it happens. I'm taking both off my radar until then. Wouldn't break my heart either way. And same goes for the other major project in the works, 63 floors or mid seventies, I'll be happy either way.

It's no rumor that LBJ's "black sheep" brother, Sam Houston Johnson, was a resident of the old Alamo Hotel. Ol' Sam was a heavy drinker and somewhat of an embarrassment to the family - kinda like Billy Carter. IIRC, the AAS did print an interview with him at some point.

I also recall there being a protest about the old hotel's demolition, but was unaware of the details except that the place was something of a dump in the 1960s.

Either way, it's going to throw a lot of shade on the Bremond Block for a good part of the day.

I don't recall seeing a dollar amount mentioned anywhere.

I follow one of the Gensler architects on Instagram. Someone inquired about the glass color of this one and this was his response... "likely clear or low iron with Viracon VRE coating. It should have a subtle silver sheen."

I'm just getting more and more excited about this one.

Plenty of sketches/renderings of this one, plus Third + Shoal, and what looks like the concept for Manchester's other project. Of course a glossy rendering of the dead 900 ft Block 185 project as well.

I see at least four posters here are Instagram buddies with the architect. I'm surprised these weren't posted already. I guess they can be called 3D Elevartions:

That's a complicated color.

The company that's doing the glass coating on this one, Viracon, have already done some other big projects in Austin. They did The Austonian and Frost Bank Tower, plus the Colorado Tower and IBC Bank Plaza. They even did the coating on the World Trade Center.

Something is wrong with the FAA entries. They also have heights for 600 Guadalupe listed as 679, 146 and 462 as well as multiple entries for each of those heights.
