Great to see!

Honestly, it makes the most sense for Halifax on a cultural basis.

HFX Wanderers Home Opener

HFX Wanderers FC are reporting that their Home Opener is now sold out, and that their full season and flex packages are limited.

What an incredible story this soccer team turned out to be. Branding at its finest!

Nice! Eight of the 20 games will feature the Wanderers, and seven of them are home games. Definitely punching above our weight. Maybe the lure of sold-out stands?

It's certainly better optics to show a sold out Wanderers Grounds than a half full IGF or THF.

If you are going to lose the first game, doing by only one goal is the best way to do it. I didn't see all of it but so proud that this has started! Bring on the home opener!!

I think the home crowd will give them the motivation to be more aggressive on offence. I watched the whole game, very exciting and proud of the wanderers!

To add to this... Similar to hockey, how the Gretzky highlights show nice pristine sponsor-less boards. Soccer jerseys used to just have the small crest on the heart of the jersey, and the remainder would be blank.

Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao both held out on shirt sponsors until something like 2010. I miss the old jersey looks, but I get it's a business. So as long as it's not like United's Chevy jersey or that one jersey I saw that was a giant Home Depot sign, I'm A-okay with it.

Hopefully I'll be able to get to Halifax to catch a few matches!

Yep! The uni-colour VW logo actually looks pretty good. It would be nice if the jerseys were Adidas or Nike, though.

For a start-up league Macron is pretty good. They allow for creativity and different colour usage. If you've seen Adidas kits in MLS you'll know how bland and boring they are. All the teams use the same templates, with few exceptions. I'd rather a lesser known maker with more creative freedom than a more well-known one with no creativity.

Uni-colour sponsor logos usually help with kits and that's something that we've at least gotten for the 2019 CPL season. Blending the sponsor into the kit goes a long way.

Not the rocket man, HFX Wanderers midfielder Elton John is the soccer man

Quote:
HFX Wanderers FC boasts the biggest name in the Canadian Premier League even if the fame has to be shared.

Midfielder Elton John is used to the attention his name brings.

"I get that a lot," he said. "I got that a lot as a kid growing up. It's OK with me now.

"It's easy for me to get in the spotlight if I really think about it. I'm kind of piggy-backing off his name. But it's two different characters. He's a great singer, obviously. And I'm still trying to make a name for myself as well."

Amazing to see the amount of space the *@&#%! Oval takes up by comparison.

Also, how did Citadel High (I presume) get a piece of land across the street at the base of Citadel Hill to use as a parking lot?

That is an Indigo public parking lot. Fans can also park at the large parkade in Park Lane Mall (Only $5).
