Harbour Condos on The Bay | ? | 10 fl | Approved

thespec.com: Developer who saved Hamilton’s Pigott Building back in town with 2 new projects

By Steve Arnold | July 13, 2016

The Toronto developer who turned Hamilton's historic Pigott building into a successful condo project has come back to town.

Vernon Shaw, of King Stuart Developments Inc., is planning two new mixed-use buildings — one in the West Harbour area and one downtown.

The downtown site, at King Street West and Caroline Street North will save the front of a historic building for commercial uses at the street level with "brick and beam" offices above.

Behind will be a 15-storey tower of 100 rental units averaging 550 square feet.

At the harbour, Shaw has acquired land at the southwest corner of Stuart and MacNab streets opposite the new West Harbour GO station.

The plan there is for 75 units averaging 750 square feet. There will be two underground parking levels. The north side of the building will overlook the harbour while the south side will offer a view of Jamesville and the city's changing skyline.

Both projects are still in the planning stages.

Shaw is founder of the Canlight Group of Companies.

First of many new builds I'm sure. I can't imagine Chris' Restaurant supply is going to be around much longer.

At the end of the CBC article it reads "The one drawback factor was how much of an impact the nearby shunting railyards have on the amount of outdoor space (think balconies) that can be proposed."

They should build for the future as I'm sure that one day the shunting yards will be moved.

These clowns probably work out of an office in Iowa or some damn place and won't even take calls from the City.

It must happen. It will happen. But it won't be until I'm old and grey.

Stuart & MacNab potential new development?

Hello Everyone,

I recently took a walk to Bayfront Park and passed by West Harbour. This area is completely fenced and this sign was put up. I am not sure if there's already been a thread already posted about this development, but I saw a potential development site at corner of MacNab Street North and Stuart Street. Not sure if it's approved or still pending approval by the city.

details:

41 Stuart Street and MacNab Street North | ? | 12 fl (11 dwelling units 1 at grade commercial) | Proposal pending?
Developer: King Stuart Developments Inc.
11 dwelling units
11 storey mix use.
one at-grade commercial unit
43 parking spaces

Does anyone know exactly where I can find details about development applications for the city. The map that the city provides is pretty lackluster.

Thanks

I'd say Condos on the GO would be appropriate, but until good GO service actually happens across the road that may be premature... plus there's bad juju on the name from Santaguida's failed "On the GO Mimico" project.

At least it's in a good spot - just from a bayfront park perspective even.

I have always been surprised that more developments like this don't take place along the waterfront. The city's north end/waterfront has been slowly getting fixed up, and may eventually be a more desirable location that it has been in the past.

The new renders look very nice!

I'm skeptical of the developer though. Is their only other project the Pigott building?
