I love how you combine US, European, and Japanese architecture in your city. Somehow it all works out and looks good together!

Amazing stuff! I think the smaller scale models like yours are even more impressive then large scale, with the detail and skill required working with tight spaces.

I'm continually blown away at the quality of your detailing. Aside from your tremendous creativity, you must have incredibly steady hands and the patience of a saint!

Smiley Person! Thanks for your kind words. I try to combine kits, architectural styles, eras, etc. I'm still only half way to where I want to be in my city structures. Then I'll start to build the layout!

Clevelumbus, Sometimes it's tough on the eyes too! I've been really busy with life the last couple of months...but I hope to get a bit more work done on these this next month!

peanut gallery, Thanks for your compliments! I think the patience part of it, or the time required to build each building is part of the therapy in doing the hobby. I've got a few buildings where I've got at least 70 hours into them. Some are much less..but some have taken a long time. The latest 3 story brick building I posted on the last page was a 25 hour building.

Anyways thanks everyone for your compliments and kind words!

Here's a really cool old German HO Scale kit I bought off ebay.

It's made by a company called Wiad. The kit is from the mid 1950's and has never been opened.

Even though this is an HO model, the old 60's and 50's HO models were really under built and are much closer to N scale. I took the kit apart and the kits is bang on N scale. I love the look of this old kit and will work out great for my city.

I'm looking forward to building it.

Cheers, Bob

Hi Bob,

Fantastic stuff you have there!

I'm just beginning my modeling journey as I wish to create a Seattle scape.

BTW - if you need to have anything laser cut, let me know as I own a C02 laser which I'll be using to create some models and signs.

I look forward to more of your beauties.

Take care,
-Ed

Crazy I've not posted an update on my N scale Model train city in over 11 years. I've only been back into the hobby the last two years but in those 2 years I've added a nice collection of new city building models. Some I've built and some I've bought from a fellow online. I'm happy with all of them though. I am also in the process of finishing another one which I hope to have completed by the end of the month. Once I finish that project I have a really awesome one to tackle which I'm really looking forward to. Anyways here's some photos of my new city additions.

Thank you so much for your kind compliments and words. It's a very fun hobby. I'm part way finishing a new model right now and planning on a really cool build after that one. I'll post photos when I get them done.

Well I finished my latest project. It took a really long time and I had some set backs but I'm really happy with it. I'll post some photos of how I made it and I'll post a link to my photo album on Flickr with all my photos of building this model...

When weathering the building I knocked out a panel of windows that I couldn't retrieve so I made a side billboard to cover them over. I was really disappointed that I did that but in the end it still works...

I hope everyone likes my latest N scale model. Over all I am really happy with it. I will take some photos of it outside tomorrow in the natural light and post them tomorrow...

After finishing my last model I've decided on my next project. It's a kit made by CMR Custommodelrailroads. An N scale City Hall. I definitely need a city hall for my city. The instruction sheets will take me an evening just to read through them and get a game plan together. Should be a fun project for early February...

I completed my next N scale city building yesterday. It's called City News made by Lunde Studios. I built it per the box so no kitbashing to make it taller. However with multiple kits it would be easy to make a taller version of this model. I just built it as is. I did paint, detail and age the building though. I'll post some photos of how I made this model. It took a lot of time. Mostly painting small details like window frames, roof top duct work etc...

I do have some questions about your models:

Are they based on real buildings, or just a version of "Big City,USA"?

Do you take suggestions for possible models: I'd have two suggestions, both from my home town of Philadelphia: the PSFS Building, and the (now long gone ) Commercial Trust/Arcade building.

If these "buildings" are destined for an N-scale layout, I hope you don't have cats going through the layout. If you're taking videos of the layout, and one of the cats get on the layout, you might need to look for soundtracks from 1950s creature features (mixing in a "LUN...IT'S CATZIRRA!).

In all seriousness, good luck with your layout.

A modest City Hall. Of course, you could have tried a model of Los Angeles City Hall. It could show an alternate view of Los Angeles, if they did not have a 150' height limit until 1957, on a layout. (No, I'm not suggesting a model of Philadelphia's City Hall...it might take as long to make as the prototype took to build...effectively, 28 years.)
