Some redundancy here, but I got too many good pictures and already cut out 80% of them. From 5/25 Part 1 of 2. Click into any picture to view it larger.

I really like this building. This photo of yours really shows how well they thought it out. It really looks like it belongs in that neighborhood.

Will it be 755 ft or 742 ft? This page says 742 ft: http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=35034

Prudential Tower is 749 ft.

Actually, the FAA documents say 756'. So it's between 742' and 756' and pretty annoying that we can never get a straight answer regarding building heights in Boston.

Have you guys tried viewing the site plans online? That's how we've been able to get the height of pretty much every new building in my city. Not only that, but you usually find out about new projects before the local media does.

I can't find anything useful enough. The BPDA documents are outdated: http://www.bostonplans.org/projects/...-dalton-street

It mentions the initial jump from 512' to 691'. What it misses is that the 691' moved up to 699', and that none of these heights listed included the mechanical crown. So the 699' ends up being between 742' to 756' and we can never get a straight answer because... Boston.

I got more pictures of this to post tomorrow. In the meantime, here's a fixed up version of that first pic.

Yeah, mechanical penthouses are usually exempt from height variances, so they're not always included when the heights are published. You should ask them if there's a way to view the site plans. Doing that, you'll be able to see the building elevations with all the heights included.

Even though it won't be the tallest building in Boston, and potentially it might not even be the second tallest, it will have more floors than any other existing building in this city.

I lived in the Boston area (Cambridge, Somerville, Providence) for 11 years and Boston remains one of my favorite cities. The next time I go there I may stay at this hotel!

Actually if you count the windows it looks like it's only 59, including the 2 floor mechanical screen on top. They skip a few floors on the way up. Hancock is the full 60.

I've always wondered why Boston hasn't generally put less emphasis on the downtown financial district as much as the Copley Square/Prudential area as far as tall buildings. It would seem to me that with the Logan Airport height limits, building up a "midtown" of sorts around the Hancock, the Pru and this new tower would allow for greater heights, more continuity in the skyline, and even potential to cover up more of the Mass Pike.

Perhaps this building will begin to set a new precedent
