I wouldn't call it a renovation when it doesn't look one bit to the original, sadly. More like a sad remodel. It looked impressive before.

John King was on KQED's Forum this morning. He said a few offices will start moving in soon, but that the building won't be finished until later this spring with the completion of the plaza and the LED art lighting at the top.

Cable Car Motor

01/06/2017 - There was feverish activity at the plaza on Saturday when I walked by. I found the lobby to be stark, all white. It appeared that a tagger put his mark on the white marble security desk.

From what I could see from the street level the garden is going to be quite an eyeful!

I walked by the Millennium tower to see if there was any visible sinking from the 4.4 magnitude earthquake this week. Damage is readily apparent but don't think it is new. Sidewalk is cracked, metal siding at street level twisted.

Are the different colored bands at night indicative of the progress finishing the various floors? It looks to me like the whiter, more fluorescent floors may be fully built out, while the more golden floors look unfinished, but I don't know for sure.

So question to all of you!

If you guys had an animation idea what would it be for the top of the tower?

Mine would be a clock like Big Ben!

How about a bright ass light that points up? I kinda like those or fluctuating colors. The tower looks great coming in on 24, and you can basically see it almost right after the tunnel.

they couldn't have done something a bit more creative/attractive with the bollards?

At least they're expensive and not concrete.

Yes, but I'm glad they are there, considering the alternative.

Mark Benioff is 53. I don't think he'll be in a back office.

In line at the bank complaining that there aren't enough tellers.

A. I personally know older people working for tech companies, including Salesforce. Of course they aren’t in the majority, but that’s OK.

B. I had to go into a bank branch in the Castro for one of my credit cards yesterday and the place was empty, with two tellers on duty during the middle of the day. If I go into the two banks I actually have funds with once a year, that’s frequent, since everything is done online, electronically, or via ATMs.

C. Some of us retired on the early side, for which I am grateful.

This "tragedy" happened to me at 47 and until I was 60 or so I felt guilty about it.

I go into the bank for 2 reasons: To access my safe deposit box and to get some denomination of cash bills that don't come out of the teller machine (e.g. when I travel I like having some small bills for assorted vending machines, tips and other possibilities).
