Looks like Indwell's new affordable housing development at the old Royal Oak Dairy site near Barton and Victoria is moving ahead as per Committee of Adjustment filings.
Is the green space on the south side of the property going to be a "public" park? I live essentially 5 doors down from here so it's of great interest to me.
I went by here the other day and could not find this post. I thought they were keeping the old building?

That back alley area doesn't seem incredibly smart from what we know about criminality and affordable housing complexes. I suppose we'll see how it plays out.

Is the green space on the Southern border completely gone now? Nothing in the renders and it actually looks like there's a new building there now?
I don't understand how once something gets approved, there's no final spec that gets released to the public to know what the site will actually look like.
The building height really takes over the neighbourhood. Feels ominous when you're walking on East Ave but maybe it's just because I'm used to having something much smaller there.
Respect Jeff Niven's vision, his heart is in the right place. We're lucky to have someone like that leading an ambitious and daunting effort and the Indwell team who's dedicated to affordable housing and partnering with indigenous groups and other marginalized individuals of society.
Absolutely INH, just a bit of a jab. This development is by far my favourite of their projects. Incorporating some of the old dairy factory skeleton and the common area courtyard are quite rad elements.
