This was a serious legal battle and the city was able to get 1,010 feet out of the FAA. They can't just change their minds like that. Something is not right about that Miami Today News story.

By a height of 41 feet, Panorama would dwarf the nearby Four Seasons Hotel & Tower at 1435 Brickell Avenue, which, at 789 feet, has been Miami’s and Florida’s tallest building for the past decade.

Hollo is also planning Miami’s first “super-tall” tower at 1,010 feet, the paper reported. One Bayfront Plaza has been in the works at 100 South Biscayne Boulevard for years, but construction has not yet begun. Hollo said he would re-focus on that project — and was confident it could go forward — after the Panorama project is complete.
I guess we will have to wait for the new tallest before we get our super tall

They are looking at bumping up the height to 1049 feet and getting started in "2 to 3 years"

This tower will be 1,005 Feet. The extra five feet just refers to the sea level change. The FAA approved it at that height according to the Miami Herald. They wanted it at 1,049 feet ,but the FAA didn't allow it. The developer, Hollo, is pushing for a 2018 completion. Its tentative though as things might change.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the FAA wants this chopped down to 470 feet.

I hope they do not get their way. This is beyond absurd.

why would they choose that height when there is a 760' tower right next door? Completely unreasonable. Do they release the data to their "studies"?

There have been numerous projects in the past that have "compromised". I really do think that height is laughable. Especially from the developers standpoint. This is really a recommendation, but I don't think it will hold water. Probably see something 700 feet hopefully. Or... they may compromise for it to be higher, but this is one of many that are being affected by the unusually stringent FAA this year.

Even Miami Central, the supertall proposal revealed a couple of months ago, they want it half that height.

How this will affect the other two 900 footers recently revealed, its iffy. They really are a POS organization considering 700 foot plus towers are going up.
