If most of those come to fruition, that is easily another 120k residents in the City. Muni really needs to develop their subways. Van Ness, and Geary (at least to Masonic) needs to be underground. Do developers pay fees towards public transit as part of the project?
Every few months I like dropping this, my fantasy extension of the Central Subway up to fisherman's wharf and down van ness. It would also include adding a station to BART for VN, so Market and Van Ness would be a central hub of activity. This goes along with the recently proposed height and density increases at the intersection. Feel free to send this picture to our local politicians, like I have!

325 Fremont has been off the radar for a while, but just had an inspection and was issued permits for shoring. The project is fully approved and financed, with Swinerton as GC. This might move soon.
I was by the CPMC building today. The glass facade is a reflective glass curtain with different sized panels and shades of color. It is too early for me to say if I like it or not.
What will be the tallest sculpture in San Francisco is being assembled now. You can barely make out the stainless figure of an abstract sculpture of a woman. This will be the only view from the street as Trinity Place I, II and III surround the plaza where the sculpture is located. I got my first view of the skin in place on the Trans-bay Terminal today. I saw a painter applying a white glossy paint on the large tubular supports - they are hollow & large enough for a person to fit inside. And in the background is the Salesforce tower.
i actually prefer this to the initial glass cladding. so much of what's being built right now is glass heavy, it's interesting that this will represent to future city dwellers a sort of dissent from our era's dominant practice.
Planning for 32-Story Tower at Hawthorne and Folsom Proceeds
Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) for the John Hancock Life Insurance Company, which owns the property, the new tower would reach a height of 320 feet and yield 330 apartments over 8,000 square feet of ground floor retail space (primarily fronting Folsom Street) and an underground garage (with its entrance on Hawthorne) for 250 cars.
The Postal Facility at Golden Gate & Hyde is FINALLY closed and the police are making daily sweeps to make sure nobody is hanging around the building dealing and using drugs (why they didn't do this when it was open beats me). Hopefully we can get tear down started soon.
May 15, 1016 - The last couple of days the construction crane as advanced up considerable. It can now be seen from my apartment in the Civic Center. I look forward to seeing part of this exciting building when complete.
The Apple store is open this weekend & I went to have a look. When it was proposed I did not think much of the design. What is unusual about a glass box? It is in fact an extraordinary glass box! One third of the 2 story front can be opened to the outside!
