I said name it... not describe it. AFAIK, there isn't one in Oakville.

Eastport Road between Hamilton and Burlington over the lift bridge is Highway 7189.

Erin Mills Parkway and Winston Churchill Boulevard over the 403 are also provincially owned for some reason, and are 7302 and 7303, respectively.

Renforth Drive around the 427/401 interchange is Highway 7311

Airport Road to the Hamilton Airport is 7274

There are a few others as well.

Lawsuit on the amount of rock blasted
It seems that rock blasting techniques really are different from one contractor to the next.

It will be weird driving down Highway 69 and not driving across that steel truss bridge at the French River.

It used to be one of those markers of a trip, somewhat defining the boundary between north and south in a sense.

I know I could just get off the new highway and drive across it, but still.

You can still easily see it from the new part of the highway.

The twinned section currently under construction may be opened this week.

Observations while driving south on the new 4 lanes:
(1) The new alignment around /607\ feels a lot closer to CP rail than the old one. I saw a train from the highway for the first time.
(2) Highway shields are already missing on the 4 lanes, 6 months in.

1) That is because it is. Look to the west, that is the old alignment.

2) are they stolen or just not installed 'yet'?

I came upon this by chance.
This is the plan for Highway 17 SE Bypass (Sudbury).
I wonder what's the GWP number for the stretch of Highway 69 shown in that plan, though. Both GWP numbers in the plan refer to other parts of Highway 17.

Not sure if this is new but the Ontario highways program is showing a start date of 2024-2025 for the next section of four lanes south of 522 as well as another section north of 559.

I though all work has stopped since the last section opened but I haven't been through this area in years.

I can see north of 559 because MTO doesn’t need to negotiate with FN’s for that stretch. But south of 522? That one’s new to me.

It's not new - it's been on the highway program website since last July when it was updated for the 2022 budget (still hasn't been updated for the 2023 budget!).

There isn't anything under construction this year on the corridor, but MTO is planning two new stretches to start in the next year or two - south from 522 to 529, as well as a northerly extension of the 400 from Nobel to around Shawanaga Gas & Variety.

The MTO is set to rehabilitate the CNR overhead just south of the 522 junction later this summer. The contractor has already set out some of the signage for the work zone this summer. I'm sure the Ministry would have preferred to have started the twinning work instead, because the CNR bridge that is about to be rehabilitated is set to be replaced once the highway twinning project commences.
