Not sure, but I hope so. I didn't see as many homeless in South Park last Saturday either.

Now 7th street heading into skid row, that's still a clusterf---.

I think he was referring to 7th Street as it heads east into Skid Row, presumably once one gets east of Los Angeles Street.

Yea, I don't know why that's hard to figure out. I put "heading".

I was just there. 7th street has some really bad stretches.

I have a feeling that as impressive as this is, it will be eventually be overshadowed by Oceanwide once they get their signage up and running. That area is going to be full Blade Runner on a rainy night

I think it will be more like Vegas than Times Square. Id Say Hollywood Blvd is more an analogous to TS. This will be what TS would be if it were built today. Even the look of Oceanwide and Circa remind me of the newest and more modern non themed resorts on the Vegas strip. It works well in the West, which tends towards more open and airy design than the desired/reviled 'canyon' that every armchair architect seems to value.
Once City Lights, Luxe, and the Hooters replacement are all in place, tied to Wilshire grand with Fig&7th...that stretch from near the freeway up to Wilshire Blvd will be quite an entryway into downtown.

I get the feeling it will be LA's version of the Strip too. Large buildings, bulky buildings/blocks.

That would look pretty amazing. Looking at this, it does give more of a Times Square vibe actually.

Ive always thought Hollywood Blvd was LA’s version of Times Square due to the old fashioned look of mishmash of advertisement and similar subway entrance with that swooping metal panel thing.

Just like they said above South Park is much more organized and looks like the sleek and modern looking Planet Hollywood in Vegas or the Cosmopolitan. Looks like the shopping inside Oceanwide would be similar to Vegas as well.

Do you guys realize that no one actually likes Times Square? Everyone who lives in New York avoids it and I can't imagine anyone who visits decides to stay for longer than five minutes.

That’s true within reason. It’s still a HUGE tourist attraction that generates a lot of money. It’s one of the reasons NYC is NYC. I’ve lived in both cities though was only in Vegas for 15 months, and locals have the same attitude. Locals avoid the Vegas Strip, and locals avoid Time Square.

I'm not that crazy about TS either, but I think South Park can benefit from something similar. And it makes sense for LA to have a distirct like that.
