Love those Sask photos. I really must visit one day. I've only driven through it, anf briefly walked down a deserted downtown Saskatoon one early sunday morning 15 years ago. I think Sask deserves better than that!

The Parc national des Hautes‑Gorges-de-la-Rivière‑Malbaie, in Charlevoix, Quebec during my visit last month. The mountains surrounding the canyon are almost 1000m tall, which is as big as they come here out east.

It was almost 20 degrees that day, and the landscape was in a full state of thaw. Very nice.

Many people don't appreciate that Quebec has very rugged topography. Many people that haven't traveled about Quebec (outside of say, Montreal) figure the landscape is much like (Southern) Ontario, which, outside of the St. Lawrence Lowlands, it is not.

The summer nights are quite cool and the humidity low so the heat is not at all oppressive there. You can manage tolerably without a/c which can't be said for Toronto, Montreal or Winnipeg.

The routing of the main highways through SK (especially the Trans Canada) do a real disservice to the province as they take generally take the most featureless routes.

I'll gladly be a Saskatoon tour guide if you manage to visit.

Yup. This landscape is baked into my DNA from my rural SK upbringing and my heart soars when I'm on a backroad on the prairie on a sunny summer day. It's not a typical natural beauty -- not like mountains or forests and rivers or coastlines -- but it's magnificent in its own way.

It makes everything else seem so insignificant.

I feel the same about Alberta. Of course wasn't born here, but being on the back roads, the prairie to the east and the rockies to the west, the sky nothing but blue and sun... it feels so good and freeing to be out there. I need to get a fucking car. Ugh.
