That's a main concern of mine is the parking allocation. Less parking slots, the better.
Take the development in Newark NJ for example:
NEWARK, NJ | Riverfront Square (stadium redevelopment) | FT | FLOORS (1000+ units)
Over 3100 parking units. Even with the office/hotel functionality, its way to high given that the light-rail is literally right next to it.
The density in Journal Square is nice, but hopefully it won't lead to too many cars on the road. High pedestrian walking count > more cars in an ideal scenario.
With that said, transit is going to make life very hard if its not expanded (frequency and capacity). Not just NYC, but in NJ as well. Its the looming time-bomb that will pop one day from all of this volume.
