The move by Time Warner to this site has been hinted at for quite some time - glad to see it's actually happening!

All of the sudden this got a big haircut, I cannot find an explanation in scanning any of the posts, just that it dropped by a good chunk. Any explanation?

At least the timeline is seriously aggressive, will be fun to see this all rising.

It's such a striking, beautiful building that it's hard to not be a little disappointed about the height decrease, but I can't wait to see this built!

It seems like whenever they sign a tenant, the tower changes heights. The South tower was originally taller before Coach signed on.

Maybe that has something to do with it?

^ The design changes are an improvement, but its always been a work in progress. Go back to the earlier renderings (of the current plan), and you will see a lot has changed.

These are companies that will own their space in the building, and even though the building here has increased slightly in size, the bulk has shifted more to the lower levels which Time Warner's various divisions will occupy (offices, studios, etc). The result is a tower closer to the original height. There may be further revisions before its all said and done, so don't be surprised by another height change.

The design has improved. One thing though, the outside the studio shots for cnn won't be as nice.

The studio shots will no doubt be over the world famous plaza, its enormous sculpture, and the Hudson. I think it will be fine.

I am curious though about what will become of the HBO headquarters building on 42nd Street.

Posting this again just because its awesome. So much development going on in and around the city, yet we can still get something like this built. Now, if things can just come together for that "Hudson Spire" site just up the block.

It may of gotten a 100ft haircut over the last few months, but that base is 10 times better than what it was.

^^Agreed - the design enhancements to the bottom portion of the tower combined with the fact that the outdoor observation deck is still 'a go' offsets any and all personal disappointment of the height reduction. 1,227ft is still an incredible height for an office building of all things.

I'm pissed of at the height reduction, but this building looks spectacular at street level.

And there will be so many supertalls built in Hudson Yards over the next 20 years, I don't think it matters that much in the long run.

Building heights get adjusted. Just this week, this building was slightly shortened, while 220 CPS got slightly taller.

Can someone dig up a "before" look of the base along 11th pretty much from that same angle? I remember it looked cold and uninviting.

looks like a supersized version of Vegas' City Center project. Very angular and pointy, for my taste.

Every time I come to this topic, the height of this building decreases. Nearly 50 meters of height reduction. Unfortunate... Anyway, the design is very good and I am happy that Warner closed the deal.
