My google maps has it for some reason:

Dropoffs is about the same at a glance but actually with the old drop off parking in the crosswalk wasn’t allowed so it was effectively shorter. Also in theory the absence of crosswalks in the new configuration should improve car mobility too (pedestrian crossing is confined to the bridges in between drop off and pick up levels). One of the most annoying things about the old drop off/pick up was waiting for pedestrians to cross every few feet. They really should extend the canopy on the new one. I don’t know why it wasn’t built that way initially. In any case there will still be a walk to the terminal so I don’t know how much it would help anyway. I think it would though.

Any word on when they are going to connect to the new Trax station? The station itself looks complete and the path has been cleared for a while now… it doesn’t really look like they have done any work on this though. It seems like something that could be finished pretty quickly if they were to put some effort into it.

Public Art In Salt Lake City Airport Competing For International Award
https://www.upr.org/post/public-art-...national-award

Quote:
In the main terminal of the newly remodeled Salt Lake City airport, artist Gordon Huether worked to bring the outdoors inside by creating a piece that mimicked Utah’s canyon scenery with white waves and ridges that integrate with the architecture of the airport. Multi-colored lights illuminate the monochrome structure of the Canyon installation in an effort to reflect the style of the earth’s geologic sediments.

Huether’s work is now competing for the prestigious CODA award for best integration of art with public space.

“People wanted to see the beauty of Utah reflected in the airport. It’s really been an honor to have that work recognized on an international basis,” said Nancy Volmer, the Director of Communication and Marketing at SLC International Airport.

CODA award contestants compete in ten different categories ranging from commercial, transportation, to educational. Volmer said the Canyon brings attention not only to Utah’s burgeoning international travel hub, but also to a growing emphasis on advancing national infrastructure in a way that goes beyond the merely practical.

“I think it’s really unique for an airport to have such a comprehensive art installation,” she said.

“Some of the feedback that we’ve been getting from our passengers is that the airport is beautiful.”

Public voting for the award is closed and jurors will now deliberate between the most voted entries for this year. The winners will be announced in late August.

I'm not sure why they keep releasing photos that are a month old, but here's an update (at least through August 25th).

The TRAX line looks basically complete with the exception of some of the power poles (which should mostly be finished by now). The TRAX Station is set to open on October 17th.

I'm glad they added some covering as people go from the train to the building. It would have been nice to have the train actually enter the building, but this is the next best thing, I guess.
